COATINGS FOR GAS TURBINES

D.S. Rickerby、M. R. Winstone1992-01-01Materials and Manufacturing Processes

The use of surface coatings, which are applied to the hot-end components of the modern gas turbine to protect against oxidation and/or corrosion, is commonplace and the correct choice of coating process is a balance between cost effectiveness, operational environment and lifetime. This paper reviews a broad range of c…

In situ neutron reflectivity studies of electroactive films

Robert M. Richardson、Marcus J. Swann、A. Robert Hillman 等 4 位作者1992-01-01Faraday Discussions

In situ neutron reflectivity measurements on potentiodynamically deposited polybithiophene (PBT) films on Pd electrodes supported on quartz are described. The contrast-variation method allows determination of polymer film structure with high resolution perpendicular to the electrode surface. Both undoped and p-doped P…

Image-analysis Techniques. Part I: The Measurement of Pore-size Distribution

R.H. Gong、A. Newton1992-01-01Journal of the Textile Institute

The paper describes digital-processing techniques for determining the pore-size distribution in a fabric. A magnified image of a sample of fabric is captured by a video camera, and the image is processed to determine pore-size distributions according to three definitions. The sizes of the pores in a fabric to be used…

Heat capacity and thermal diffusivity of a glass sample

G. Yang、Aldo Migone、Kenneth W. Johnson1992-01-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

We report on measurements of the specific heat and thermal diffusivity of Pyrex 7740 glass for temperatures between 20 and 310 K. The thermal conductivity was determined from the measured quantities. Our results are compared with theoretical predictions for glasses.

Aldo Mirabella、Edoardo A.C. Costantini、Stefano Carnicelli1992-01-01Zeitschrift für Pflanzenernährung und Bodenkunde

Abstract A polycyclic Terra Rossa (Chromic Cambisol on Rhodic Nitisol) was studied with the aim of characterizing pedogenetic processes and relating the most evolved term of a previously defined catena with its parent material. Results obtained by field, chemical, micromorphological, sedimentological and mineralogical…

Relationships between Hygral Expansion, Relaxation Shrinkage, and Extensibility in Woven Wool Fabrics

Peter G. Cookson1992-01-01Textile Research Journal

If a wool fabric is restrained during drying, as in tentering, there is a close relationship between the relaxation shrinkage that is induced and the hygral expansion. A high correlation also exists between the hygral expansion and extensibility of relaxed fabrics. For conventional woven fabrics, this relationship is…

In situ infrared spectroelectrochemical studies of tetraphenylporphyrin complexes containing manganese, iron and cobalt

David H. Jones、A. Scott Hinman1992-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Dalton Transactions

The difference spectra in the mid-infrared region associated with oxidation of the porphyrin ring in 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin complexes of MnIII, FeIII and CoIII have been obtained by in situ Fourier-transform infrared spectroelectrochemistry, and are compared to those similarly observed for the corresponding m…

Conduction and thermally stimulated discharge currents in aramid paper

G. R. Govinda Raju1992-01-01IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation

Conduction currents and thermally stimulated discharge (TSD) currents were studied in aramid paper at various field strengths and temperatures. At low field strengths the conductivity is ohmic, and at higher field strengths (up to 30 MV/m), ionic conduction is a possible mechanism. The activation energy of low field c…

Abstract We propose an improved general method for the synthesis of tetrathiafulvalene and its methylated derivatives. TTF is obtained in a five steps preparation offering a high Overall yield. Concerning the unsymmetrically methylated tetrathiafulvalenes, four different procedures are analysed. It is shown the best r…

An XPS study of the steel-aromatic moisture-cured urethane interface

Mohamed M. Chehimi、John F. Watts1992-01-01Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology

The surface of an aromatic moisture-cured urethane (ArMCU) and the steel-ArMCU interface have been studied using XPS. Study of the interface after failure showed that iron was present in the polymer and nitrogen from the ArMCU was detected on the steel surface after failure. This suggests a failure within a chemical i…

Fe3(PO4)2, sarcopside, displays unusual magnetic properties which have been investigated using time-of-flight powder neutron diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The structure contains chains of three edge-shared FeO6 octahedra with two inequivalent iron sites, the central M(1) site possessing a fairl…

Potential-modulated ultraviolet–visible and Raman spectra of polypyrrole thin films in aqueous electrolytes : combination with voltammetric scanning and the influence of dioxygen on the stability of radical cations and dications of the conducting polymer

Yong Son、Krishnan Rajeshwar1992-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions

For non-degenerate ground-state polymers such as polypyrrole, it has been shown by other authors that radical cations (polarons) and dications (bipolarons) are the species responsible for their electronic conduction. The evolution of these species with electrode potential and doping level has also been considered in p…

A tetraazamacrocycle from three pyrrole units and a condensed furan ring—“furochloro-phin”—surrounds the NiII ion in 1. This 18π electron system with a basic chlorin structure is formed surprisingly easily from the thermolysis of (octadehydrocorrinato)nickel(II) chloride. This synthesis will probably not only provide…
