Giant Magnetoresistance at Microwave Frequencies

M. Domı́nguez、S.M. Bhagat、S. E. Lofland 等 8 位作者1995-11-01Europhysics Letters (EPL)

We report the first measurement of giant magnetoresistance at 10 GHz in a bulk ceramic sample of Nd 0.7 Sr 0.3 MnO 3 . From the surface resistance data, we deduce that the magnetoresistance, [ϱ μW (0)−ϱ μW ( B )]/ϱ μW (0) at 1.2 T, has a peak value of approximately 90% at 215 K. The microwave studies are supplemented…

Manfred Meyer、Katrin Granderath、Jan R. Andreesen1995-11-01European Journal of Biochemistry

Simple complementation assay systems were developed for the substrate-specific proteins PB of glycine reductase, sarcosine reductase, and betaine reductase, in which acetyl phosphate was detected as the product in all three cases. The betaine-specific subunits of protein B (PB betaine) responsible for betaine reductas…

Hexacyanometalates [BIII(CN)6)]3- react with Lewis acids [AL]2+ or A2+ to give either oligonuclear complexes with high-spin ground states [BIII(CN-AIIL)6)]9+ or three-dimensional (3D) networks with variable Curie temperature TC. We report the magnetic properties of (i) an heptanuclenr complex [Cr(CN-Ni(tetren)6](ClO4)…

Deposition and analysis of silicon clusters generated by laser-induced gas phase reaction

M. Ehbrecht、H. Ferkel、F. Huisken 等 8 位作者1995-11-01Journal of Applied Physics

Silicon clusters have been generated by CO2-laser-induced decomposition of SiH4 in a flow reactor. By introducing a conical nozzle into the reaction zone, they are extracted into a molecular beam apparatus and analyzed with a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The mass spectra show that the cluster source emits, beside…

Large Magnetic Anisotropy in High Spin Clusters; a Route to Magnetic Hysteresis at the Molecular Level

Roberta Sessoli1995-11-01Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals/Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science and technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals

New experiments on a well known compound, a dodecanuclear manganese cluster of formula [Mn12O12(CH3COO)16(H2O)4, are providing very exciting results. Recently this cluster was shown to have a huge magnetic anisotropy of the Ising type which, associated to the large spin of the ground state, S=10, is responsible of an…

Structural and Mechanistic Studies of Galactoside Acetyltransferase, the Escherichia coli LacA Gene Product

Ann Lewendon、Jacqueline Ellis、William V. Shaw1995-11-01Journal of Biological Chemistry

Escherichia coli galactoside acetyltransferase (GAT) is a member of a large family of acetyltransferases that O-acetylate dissimilar substrates but share limited sequence homology. Steady-state kinetic analysis of over-expressed GAT demonstrated that it accepted a range of substrates, including glucosides and lactosid…

Characterization of Yttrium Phosphate and a Yttrium Phosphate/Yttrium Aluminate Laminate

Dong–Hau Kuo、Waltraud M. Kriven1995-11-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Single‐phase yttrium phosphate (YPO 4 ) and a YPO 4 /yttrium aluminate (Y 3 Al 5 O 12 ) laminate were studied. Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, Vickers hardness, and coefficient of thermal expansion of YPO 4 sintered bodies were measured. YPO 4 and Y 3 Al 5 O 12 are chemically compatible and morphologically stable up…

Magnetic-resonance measurements on the5A2excited state of the neutral vacancy in diamond

J.A. Van Wyk、O. D. Tucker、Mark E. Newton 等 6 位作者1995-11-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The ground state of the neutral vacancy in diamond is diamagnetic and therefore has not been studied by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). We report the observation of EPR from the $^{5}$${\mathit{A}}_{2}$ excited state of the neutral vacancy by EPR when illuminating an electron-irradiated natural IaB diamond with…

Orientational glass transition in a rotator model

Ch. Renner、Hartmut Löwen、Jean‐Louis Barrat1995-11-01Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

Orientational dynamics in a simple model of infinitely thin hard needles, initially proposed by Rubinstein and Obukhov [1], are investigated by molecular dynamics simulations. The center-of-mass coordinates of the needles are fixed on a regular fcc lattice. The statics of the system is analytically known, yielding a g…

Mixing and morphological transformations in the compounding process for polymer blends: The phase inversion mechanism

Chi‐Kai Shih1995-11-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract This study reports on the progression of processes occurring in polymer blends during mixing. For the polymer pellet blends studied, an abrupt phase inversion was observed simultaneous with attainment of maximum torque in the batch mixer. A four‐step phase inversion mechanism is described as predominant where…

Theoretical studies of sonoluminescence radiation: Radiative transfer and parametric dependence

Lou Kondic、Joel I. Gersten、Chi Yuan1995-11-01Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

We present results for sonoluminescent (SL) radiation from a strongly modulated air bubble in water. The SL pulse is due to high temperatures in the bubble that are produced by the collapse of a shock wave. The dependence of SL radiation on acoustic pressure and initial bubble size is discussed, as well as the inclusi…
