Stabilisation of nanostructured Ce0.2Zr0.8O2 solid solution by impregnation on Al2O3: a suitable method for the production of thermally stable oxygen storage/release promoters for three-way catalysts

R. Di Monte、Paolo Fornasiero、Jan Kašpar 等 7 位作者2000-01-01Chemical Communications

By impregnating γ-Al2O3 with cerium/zirconium citrate solutions and subsequent calcination, nanostructured CemZr1−mO2 mixed oxides supported on Al2O3 are obtained, which feature remarkably high oxygen storage even after calcination at 1100 °C for 24 h.

Jin‐San Yoon、Hae-Won Jung、Mal-Nam Kim 等 4 位作者2000-01-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

The diffusion coefficient and solubility of water molecules were measured in polyglycolide (PGA), poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), poly[(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate] (PHB), poly(ϵ-caprolactone) (PCL), and SkygreenR (SG). The diffusion coefficient and equilibrium solubility decreased in the order SG > PCL > PLLA > PHB > PGA and PGA >…

Lattice-switch Monte Carlo method

Ann Bruce、Andrew Jackson、Graeme J. Ackland 等 4 位作者2000-01-01Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

We present a Monte Carlo method for the direct evaluation of the difference between the free energies of two crystal structures. The method is built on a lattice-switch transformation that maps a configuration of one structure onto a candidate configuration of the other by "switching" one set of lattice vectors for th…

Effect of MgO Doping on the Phase Transformations of BaTiO 3

Toru Nagai、Kenji Iijima、Hae Jin Hwang 等 6 位作者2000-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The successive phase transformations in MgO‐doped BaTiO 3 were studied. Upon MgO doping, dielectric anomalies corresponding to lower phase transformations were broadened and depressed, while an anomaly for a cubic–tetragonal transformation remained and shifted to a lower temperature. XRD peak splitting upon tetragonal…

Takeshi SHIONO、K. Shiono、Kazuyo Miyamoto 等 4 位作者2000-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

A precursor was synthesized from a heterogeneous alkoxide solution that contained fine MgO powder, which allowed the preparation of MgAl 2 O 4 spinel powder with high sinterability characteristics. The precursor consisted of a mixture of boehmite (AlO(OH)) and a mixed hydroxide (Mg 4 Al 2 (OH) 14 · 3H 2 O). The spinel…

PD source recognition by Weibull processing of pulse height distributions

A. Contin、Gian Carlo Montanari、C Ferraro2000-01-01IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation

The problem of identification of partial discharge (PD) phenomena occurring in an insulation system is addressed in this paper. PD distributions coming from different sources, such as internal voids, as well as surface and corona discharges, are compared. In particular, the investigation focuses on the Weibull probabi…

Modification, degradation, and stability of polymeric surfaces treated with reactive plasmas

Christopher M. Weikart、H. Yasuda2000-01-01Journal of Polymer Science Part A Polymer Chemistry

The degradation, modification, and stability of polymeric surfaces exposed to chemically reactive O2 and H2O-vapor plasmas were investigated. Specifically, the effects of these plasmas on etching rate, surface morphology, wetting instability, and fluid-holding capability were studied. Wetting instability is reflected…

Combinatorial solid state materials science and technology

Hideomi Koinuma、Hemantkumar N. Aiyer、Yuji Matsumoto2000-01-01Science and Technology of Advanced Materials

Conventional ‘one by one’ synthesis approach has been a major rate limiting step in the systematic exploration of increasingly complex materials for the demanding new technologies. New concepts of ‘combinatorial chemistry’ are presented for the substantially efficient and cost-effective parallel synthesis and optimiza…

Manipulating core–shell reactivities for processing nanoparticle sizes and shapes

Mathew M. Maye、Chuan‐Jian Zhong2000-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

This paper describes new findings of an investigation of thermally-activated core–shell reactivities of nanoparticles in solutions for processing size, shape and surface properties. Gold nanoparticles of ≈2 nm core sizes with thiolate monolayer encapsulation were chosen as a model system for the manipulation of reacti…

The reactivity of NO2 and HONO on flame soot at ambient temperature: The influence of combustion conditions

Dominik Stadler、Michel J. Rossi2000-01-01Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

The heterogeneous interaction of NO2 on decane and hexane soot generated in the laboratory was examined in a Knudsen reactor. Two different types of soot were produced using both fuels: Soot originating from a rich flame at a high fuel/oxygen ratio (‘grey’ soot) and soot generated from a lean flame at a low fuel/oxyge…

Chain extension of recycled poly(ethylene terephthalate) with 2,2?-(1,4-phenylene)bis(2-oxazoline)

George P. Karayannidis、Eleni A. Psalida2000-01-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

The present work provides improved recycled high molecular weight poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) by chain extension using 2,2′-(1,4-phenylene)bis(2-oxazoline) (PBO) as the chain extender. PBO is a very reactive compound toward macromolecules containing carboxyl end groups but not hydroxyl end groups. In the case o…

Jerry Yang、Richard L. Weinberg、Ronald Breslow2000-01-01Chemical Communications

The aromatic steroid equilenin acetate undergoes regioselective and stereoselective hydroxylation and amidation catalyzed by a manganese porphyrin using iodosobenzene (PhIO) and N-tosyliminophenyliodinane (PhINTs) as the oxygen and nitrogen donor, respectively.

As the Rp of ion implants steadily decreases an ever-increasing percentage of the implant species lies in the oxide layer and is, therefore, not electrically active. For this reason, it is important to have analytical techniques capable of accurately measuring the thickness of ultrathin oxide layers. A round-robin stu…
