Proximity-induced interface bound states in superconductor-graphene junctions

Pablo Burset、William J. Herrera、A. Levy Yeyati2009-07-14Physical Review B

We show that interface bound states are formed at isolated graphene-superconductor junctions. These states arise due to the interplay of virtual Andreev and normal reflections taking place at these interfaces. Simple analytical expressions for their dispersion are obtained considering interfaces formed along armchair…

Reverse Spillover of Hydrogen on Carbon-Based Nanomaterials: Evidence of Recombination Using Isotopic Exchange

Anthony J. Lachawiec、Ralph T. Yang2009-07-14The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The hydrogen spillover phenomenon at ambient temperature is of interest in the development of adsorbents for storage applications. The mechanism of hydrogen spillover is studied using equilibrium dosing of the deuterium hydride molecule. Temperature programmed desorption spectra for both primary and secondary spillove…

Mechanistic Investigations of the Reaction of an Iron(III) Octa-Anionic Porphyrin Complex with Hydrogen Peroxide and the Catalyzed Oxidation of Diammonium-2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate)

Ariane Brausam、Siegfried Eigler、Norbert Jux 等 4 位作者2009-07-14Inorganic Chemistry

A detailed study of the effect of pH, temperature, and pressure on the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with [Fe(III)(P(8-))](7-), where P(8-) represents the octa anionic porphyrin, was performed using stopped-flow techniques. Depending on the pH, different high valent iron-oxo species were formed. At pH < 9 formation of…

The Use of Terahertz Spectroscopy as a Sensitive Probe in Discriminating the Electronic Properties of Structurally Similar Multi‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Edward P. J. Parrott、J. Axel Zeitler、James McGregor 等 10 位作者2009-07-14Advanced Materials

Terahertz spectroscopy is used to definitively distinguish between two multiwalled carbon nanotubes (see figure), which have commercial applications in a number of advanced materials. Other techniques do not provide a sensitive discrimination of the measured properties. This observation is rationalized by considering…

OBJECTIVE: Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis is a clinical syndrome linked with exposure in renal failure patients to gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) during magnetic resonance imaging. Recently, we demonstrated that GBCA exposure led to increased matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and tissue inhibitor of metallop…

New Palladium(II) Complex of P,S-Containing Hybrid Calixphyrin. Theoretical Study of Electronic Structure and Reactivity for Oxidative Addition

Noriaki Ochi、Yoshihide Nakao、Hirofumi Sato 等 6 位作者2009-07-14Journal of the American Chemical Society

The palladium complex of P,S-containing hybrid calixphyrin 1 was investigated with the DFT method. There are two kinds of valence tautomer in 1: one is a Pd(II) form in which the calixphyrin moiety possesses -2 charges and the Pd center takes +2 oxidation state, and the other is a Pd(0) form in which the calixphyrin i…

Size-Dependent Structural and Magnetic Properties of LaCoO 3 Nanoparticles

Shiming Zhou、Laifa He、Shuangyi Zhao 等 6 位作者2009-07-14The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The structural and magnetic properties of LaCoO 3 nanoparticles with the particle size ( D ) ranging from ∼60 to 450 nm prepared by a sol−gel method are investigated in this paper. It is found that all the nanoparticles have rhombohedral structure as the bulk, while the volume of unit cell monotonically increases with…

Montmorillonites modified by hydroxyethylhexadecyldimethyl ammonium bromine were used to prepare poly(ϵ-caprolactone) (PCL)/montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites by in situ ring-opening polymerization of ϵ-caprolactone. Wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) analysis illustrated that an exfoliated structure of PCL/MMT nan…
