The effects of doping Co for the Ga site on the oxide ion conductivity of La 0.8 Sr 0.2 Ga 0.8 Mg 0.2 O 3 have been investigated in detail. It was found that doping Co is effective for enhancing the oxide ion conductivity. In particular, a significant increase in conductivity in the low-temperature range was observed.…

Tight-binding Hamiltonians for Sr filled ruthenates: application to the gap anisotropy and Hall coefficient in Sr2RuO4

I. I. Mazin、D. A. Papaconstantopoulos、D. J. Singh1999-07-28arXiv

Accurate orthogonal tight-binding Hamiltonians are constructed for ferromagnetic SrRuO$_3$ and the layered perovskite superconductor, Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ by fitting to all-electron full-potential local density band structures obtained by the linearized augmented planewave method. These Hamiltonians allow the band structure…

Quantum diffusion at high interstitial concentrations: Application to surface diffusion

G. L. Buchbinder、V. N. Shapov1999-07-28arXiv

In this work we first study the quantum diffusion in a volume of a crystalline solid at high interstitial concentrations when the effects of the short-range interactions between the diffusing particles are to be factors. Within the scope of the small-polaron formalism the transition rate depending on both the temperat…

Shear-Induced Demixing in Polystyrene/Poly(vinyl methyl ether) Blends. 1. Early Stages of Shear-Induced Demixing

H Gérard、J. S. Higgins、Nigel Clarke1999-07-27Macromolecules

Light scattering has been used to investigate the effect of shear-induced demixing (SID) in polystyrene/poly(vinyl methyl ether) blends of diverse molecular weight distributions down to −30 K below the quiescent spinodal temperature of any blend. The early stage of the demixing process, observed along the vorticity di…

Thermally reversible organogels, comprised of a variety of organic liquids and low concentrations of relatively low molecular mass aza analogues of previously investigated ALS (i.e., aromatic linker steroid) molecules have been investigated. The aza-ALS gelators are derivatives of 3β-cholesteryl 4-(2-anthrylamino)buta…

Diana C. W. Siew、Carola Heilmann、Allan J. Easteal 等 4 位作者1999-07-27Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of plasticizer hydrogen bonding capability and chain length on the molecular structure of sodium caseinate (NaCAS), in NaCAS/glycerol and NaCAS/polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG) systems. Both solution and film phases were investigated. Glycerol and PEG reduced the viscosit…

Mono- and Dinuclear Silica-Supported Titanium(IV) Complexes and the Effect of TiOTi Connectivity on Reactivity

Abdillahi Omar Bouh、Gordon L. Rice、Susannah L. Scott1999-07-27Journal of the American Chemical Society

The room-temperature reactions of excess Ti(O i Pr) 4 with the hydroxyl groups of a nonporous silica yield dinuclear surface complexes regardless of the degree of partial dehydroxylation of the silica. The surface reactions were studied by in situ IR transmission spectroscopy, 13 C CP/MAS NMR, GC/MS, and elemental ana…

<title>Current status of very large sapphire crystal growth for optical applications</title>

F. Schmid、C. P. Khattak、Henry H. Rogers 等 6 位作者1999-07-26Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE

Sapphire is an ideal visible-MWIR window due to its excellent optical and mechanical properties and its availability in large sizes up to 340-mm diameter boules. Anticipated applications for new, high performance optical systems call for even larger, 450-750 mm diameter, windows. The present effort has focused on prod…

We substituted neutral amino acids for some positively charged residues (R42, K107, K146, R148 and K229) that line the active site of aldolase A in an effort to determine binding sites for inositol 1, 4,5-trisphosphate. In addition, D33 (involved in carbon-carbon bond cleavage) was mutated. K229A and D33S aldolases sh…
