アルカリ環境の水素チャージ条件のもとで引張試験を行い,水素脆化の起点となるき裂の発生・進展を観察した.プレチャージした試験片では破壊が内部に向かって進展するのに対し,プレチャージしない試験片では表面近傍に沿って進展していた.実環境において鋼材が腐食を伴い水素脆化するケースでは,水素が断続的に侵入することを考慮すると,本実験のように表面に沿って破壊が進展し,破壊に至るのではないかと推察される.
