Photoswitching Magnetic Crossover in Organic Molecular Systems

Arjun Saha、Iqbal A. Latif、Sambhu N. Datta2011-02-07The Journal of Physical Chemistry A

We have theoretically designed efficient photomagnetic diradicals using both substituted and unsubstituted cyclophanediene (CPD) and dihydropyrenes (DHP) as spacers. Nitronyl nitroxide (NN), oxoverdazyl (o-VER), and tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) are chosen as monoradical centers. Molecular geometries have been optimized by…

Max Schütz、Christian I. Müller、Mohammad Salehi 等 5 位作者2011-02-07Journal of Biophotonics

The design and synthesis of Raman reporter molecules comprising olefin or alkyne moieties with strong and characteristic vibrational Raman bands is presented. Chemisorption onto the surface of colloidal Au/Ag shells yields a self-assembled monolayer. Hydrophilic stabilization of such SERS labels can be achieved by sho…

GaMg Alloy Nanoparticles for Broadly Tunable Plasmonics

Pae C. Wu、Tong‐Ho Kim、Alexandra Suvorova 等 8 位作者2011-02-07Small

GaMg bimetallic alloy nanoparticles for plasmonics and hydrogen storage are demonstrated. The localized surface plasmon resonance of the GaMg alloy nanoparticles is widely tunable from the near-UV through the visible and to the near-IR, it is almost unaffected by air-exposure oxidation, and it is thermally stable.

Soumyendu Roy、Reeti Bajpai、Navneet Soin 等 9 位作者2011-02-07Small

The surface morphology of bucky papers (BPs) made from single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is modified by plasma treatment resulting in the formation of vertical microstructures on the surface. The shapes of these structures are either pillarlike or conelike depending on whether the gas used during plasma treatment…

Géraldine Layrac、Didier Tichit、Joulia Larionova≠ 等 5 位作者2011-02-07The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The controlled growth of cyano-bridged coordination polymers was developed by using layered double hydroxides (LDH) as bidimensional host structures. A series of nanocomposites [B 0.66 Al 0.33 (OH) 2 ] 0.33+ /[MFe(CN) 6 ] − (B = Mg, Ni; M = Ni, Co) were obtained by step-by-step coordination of hexacyanoferrate buildin…

Transition from Long-Range to Short-Range Energy Transfer through Donor Migration in Garnet Hosts

Anant Setlur、J. J. Shiang、Carl J. Vess2011-02-07The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

We demonstrate that the mechanism for nonradiative energy transfer, a critical aspect in many optical systems, can switch from a longer-range dipole−dipole mechanism to a short-range exchange mechanism through energy migration between donors. This transition significantly increases energy transfer rates and is analyze…

When two types of side chains (A,B) are densely grafted to a (stiff) backbone and the resulting bottlebrush polymer is in a solution under poor solvent conditions, an incompatibility between A and B leads to microphase separation in the resulting cylindrical brush.
