Corrosion inhibition of mild steel by sodium tungstate in neutral solution Part 3: Coinhibitors and synergism

J. M. Abd El Kader、A. A. EL WARRAKY、A. M. ABD EL AZIZ1998-01-01British Corrosion Journal

AbstractThe corrosion inhibiting effects of three additives, sodium benzoate, calcium gluconate, and sodium glycerophosphate, as coinhibitors with Na2WO4 were investigated by measuring the corrosion weight loss of mild steel in distilled water and in 10−3M NaCl. The specimens were examined and photographed under a met…

Bearing Steels 20/20 — A Steelmaker's View Point — A Look Back 20 Years and a Look Forward 20 Years

BM Glasgal1998-01-01OpenAlex

Historically, bearing steels have been manufactured using “clean steel technology” to produce a product that has reduced levels of non-metallic inclusions. Included in this review are the key steel production practices that have evolved over time to make steels with superior cleanliness. The evolution of steelmaking p…

Juan Jiménez‐Millán1998-01-01Clay Minerals

Glauconite and Ca phosphate peloids occur in Jurassic and Cretaceous bioclastic carbonate rocks from pelagic swell sequences of the Algayat-Crevillente Unit (Subbetic Zone). The size and morphology of the peloids are controlled by the bioclasts. The glauconite in both stratigraphic positions is K rich (>0.69 atoms p.f.u…

John Patrick Kociolek、K. Rhode1998-01-01Cryptogamie Algologie

Endemic Asterionella taxa from Lake Tsimbazaza, Madagascar, were studied from type material with light and scanning electron microscopy and shown to possess short raphe branches; rimoportulae may be present or absent. These taxa appear to be closely related to Actinella species also endemic to Lake Tsimbazaza, by virtu…

Complex Structures of Cerium.

M. I. McMahon、R. J. Nelmes1998-01-01The Review of High Pressure Science and Technology

The phases of cerium above 5GPa have been studied using angle-dispersive powder diffraction techniques. With filings of Ce, a C-face-centred monoclinic structure with four atoms per unit cell is obtained between 5 and 12GPa. Heating to 373K for many hours yields the known α-U phase. With a single cut piece as a sample…

A Study on Solid Structure of Regenerated Cellulose Fibers Related with Fibrillation.

Junya Sato、Niamh O’Mara、Masatoshi Saito1998-01-01Sen i Gakkaishi

It is well known that the Cupro®, Polynosic and organic solvent span rayons, such as Tencel®, and Lyoce® fibers are easy to fibrillate. The Rayon fiber is difficult to fibrillate. We developed fibrillation-resistant Cupro(CUPRO2) by means of a new spinning method. In this study, we attempted to compare the solid struc…

Fabrication and Mechanical Properties of Si3N4/SiC Nanocompoisites under Pressureless Sintering.

Jian-Feng Yang、Yong‐Ho Choa、Tohru Sekino 等 4 位作者1998-01-01Journal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy

To meet the practical application, a kind of commercially available Si3N4 powder by direct Si nitridation was used to fabricate dense Si3N4/SiC nanocomposite by pressureless sintering method. The price of this kind of powder is much lower than that of powder by imide decomposition. 5-30 vol% of SiC powder (average par…

A fast boundary element method to electric field computation within the tank of power transformers

Jawad Faiz、Mansour Ojaghi1998-01-01COMPEL The International Journal for Computation and Mathematics in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

In this paper, different shapes of the boundary surfaces within the power transformers are reviewed. The surface charge distribution function on the two surface elements, which have the majority of usage, are recognized and the resultant potential and electric field intensity equations are derived. A numerical interpo…

Enhancement mechanisms in the SERS phenomenon

Stefan Kruszewski1998-01-01Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE

A submicroscopic surface roughness as well as the atomic scale roughness are required for the observations of the strong SERS signal. The submicroscopic roughness is necessary to occur the electromagnetic enhancement of Raman scattered light, whereas the atomic scale roughness, i.e. the existence of the 'active sites'…

Ceramic Electrodes for SOFC's

John A. Kilner1998-01-01DIGITAL.CSIC (Spanish National Research Council (CSIC))

The current trend in Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) development is for a lowering of the operation temperature from ~ 1000°C to temperatures as low as 600°C. This lowering of temperature is beneficial in a number of ways. It relaxes the stringent materials requirements for cell components, particularly, the interconnect…

Reactive ion etching: a versatile fabrication technique for micro-optical elements

M. Ferstl1998-01-01Diffractive Optics and Micro-Optics

Reactive ion etching (RIE), a well established technology in semiconductor industries, has proven to be also a versatile tool for the fabrication of optical components. Using fluor based processes, we fabricated refractive spherical and cylindrical microlenses as well as various diffractive optical elements (DOEs) e.g…

Effect of Phosphorus in Steel on Galvannealing Behavior of Galvanized Steel

Satoshi Hashimoto、Kenji Tahara、Etsuo Hamada 等 6 位作者1998-01-01鐵と鋼 : 日本鐡鋼協會々誌

The alloy phases of the galvanized steel have been examined in order to clarify the effect of phosphorous added in the steel substrate on the galvannealing behavior. SEM observation have revealed that the density of the ζ-ZnFe crystal decreases and that the size of the ζ-ZnFe crystal becomes large as a function of the…

Application of Markov Process to Chain-of-Bundles Probability Model and Lifetime Distribution Analysis for Fibrous Composites.

Koichi GODA1998-01-01Journal of the Society of Materials Science Japan

Markov process was applied to the chain-of-bundles probability model which is often used for the axial strength analysis of a unidirectional fibrous composite. It was assumed to the process that a group consisting of fiber breakage points, the so-called cluster, evolves in time intermittently subject to two kinds of l…

Passive Films on Iron Group Metals and Stainless Steel.

Shinji Fujimoto、Toshio Shibata1998-01-01Hyomen Kagaku

An overview is provided on the properties and growth of passive films on Fe group metals and stainless steel. The growth kinetics of passive film might be explained by the Cabrera-Mott theory with some modifications. Passivation of stainless steel is characterized by Cr enrichment in the film with some critical Cr con…
