Although most rutile‐type difluorides (MnF2, CoF2 and NiF2) have a positive thermal expansion coefficient, FeF2 has a negative thermal expansion (NTE) along the c‐axis in the high temperature region. In this study, we give an explanation of that behavior with Extended X‐ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) and X‐ray…

Regulated growth of diatom cells on self-assembled monolayers

Kazuo Umemura、Tomoaki Yamada、Yuta Maeda 等 6 位作者2007-01-01Journal of Nanobiotechnology

We succeeded in regulating the growth of diatom cells on chemically modified glass surfaces. Glass surfaces were functionalized with -CF3, -CH3, -COOH, and -NH2 groups using the technique of self-assembled monolayers (SAM), and diatom cells were subsequently cultured on these surfaces. When the samples were rinsed aft…

Formation of Ni[C4(CN)8] from the reaction of Ni(COD)2 (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) with TCNE in THF

Joel S. Miller、Konstantin Pokhodnya2007-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

The dissolution of Ni(COD)2 (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) into dichloromethane leads to decomposition and formation of a room temperature magnetic material, whereas the reaction of Ni(COD)2 and tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) in THF forms paramagnetic materials including NiII[C4(CN)8](THF)2·xTHF. These results are discussed in…
