Xiaozhang Zhu、Hayato Tsuji、Aswani Yella 等 6 位作者2012-12-04Chemical Communications

We demonstrate that a carbon-bridged phenylenevinylene (CPV)-linked dye serves as a novel and efficient sensitizer for dye-sensitized solar cells. The cells show IPCE values of greater than 90%, PCEs of up to 7.12%, and high open circuit voltages reaching close to 0.8 V based on the iodide/triiodide electrolyte.

Microgels or microcapsules? Role of morphology on the release kinetics of thermoresponsive PNIPAm-co-PEGMa hydrogels

Tatiya Trongsatitkul、Bridgette M. Budhlall2012-12-04Polymer Chemistry

The effect of morphology of PNIPAm, PEGMa and PNIPAm-co-PEGMa hydrogels on the uptake and delivery (release kinetics) of a model drug (FITC–dextran) was investigated. Two types of hydrogel architectures: microgels and microcapsules, without and with core–shell morphology, were synthesized. The microcapsules had 30–50%…

Nanoscale Electrochemical Patterning Reveals the Active Sites for Catechol Oxidation at Graphite Surfaces

Anisha N. Patel、Kim McKelvey、Patrick R. Unwin2012-12-04Journal of the American Chemical Society

Graphite-based electrodes (graphite, graphene, and nanotubes) are used widely in electrochemistry, and there is a long-standing view that graphite step edges are needed to catalyze many reactions, with the basal surface considered to be inert. In the present work, this model was tested directly for the first time usin…

Poly(AAc-co-MBA) Hydrogel Films: Adhesive and Mechanical Properties in Aqueous Medium

Dhamodaran Arunbabu、Hamed Shahsavan、Wei Zhang 等 4 位作者2012-12-04The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

Poly(acrylic acid-co-N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide) hydrogel films were synthesized by copolymerizing acrylic acid (AAc) with N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a cross-linker via photo polymerization in the spacing confined between two glass plates. NMR spectroscopy was utilized to determine the cross-linking density…

Jiang Yuan、Jia Geng、Zhicai Xing 等 8 位作者2012-12-04Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine

Keratin is an important protein used for wound healing and tissue recovery. In this study, keratin was first extracted from raw materials and chemically modified to obtain stable keratin (m-keratin). The raw and m-keratin were examined by Raman spectroscopy. The molecular weight of the m-keratin was analysed by SDS-PA…

Quantitative Experimental Determination of Scattering and Absorption Cross-Section Spectra of Individual Optical Metallic Nanoantennas

Martin Husnik、Stefan Lindén、Richard Diehl 等 6 位作者2012-12-04Physical Review Letters

Antennas convert propagating radiation to localized electromagnetic energy and to heat. To unambiguously separate between these two aspects, one needs to quantitatively determine the antenna scattering and absorption cross-section spectra. By using a spatial modulation technique combined with a common-path interferome…
