Sonam D. Sherpa、Galit Levitin、Dennis W. Hess2012-09-10Applied Physics Letters

Work function engineering of graphene facilitates its application as a transparent electrode material in organic electronic devices. Toward this end, we demonstrate the dependence of the work function of plasma-fluorinated epitaxial graphene on the polarity of carbon-fluorine bonds which is controlled by the nature of…

Abstract Raman scattering from binary Ge x Se 100 − x glasses excited using 1064 nm radiation display vibrational modes whose linewidths significantly exceed those observed using 647 nm radiation. In these glasses, 1064 nm radiation excites midgap states while 647 nm radiation excites conduction band tail states. Pres…

Preparation and characterization of polyvinyl alcohol/carbon nanotube (PVA/CNT) conductive nanofibers

Özcan Köysüren2012-09-10Journal of Polymer Engineering

Abstract The aim of this study was to prepare polyvinyl alcohol/carbon nanotube (PVA/CNT) conductive nanofibers by the electrospinning process. Prior to composite preparation, carbon nanotubes are dispersed homogeneously in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and mixed with a PVA solution. A series of PVA/CNT films and nanof…

Giant negative thermal expansion in La-doped CaFe2As2

A. Rebello、J. J. Neumeier、Zhaoshun Gao 等 5 位作者2012-09-10Physical Review B

Lanthanum doping for calcium in CaFe${}_{2}$As${}_{2}$ results in negative thermal expansion that can be exceptionally large. The behavior is unusual among Fe-As materials, and is presumably associated with the close proximity of CaFe${}_{2}$As${}_{2}$ to a structural phase instability.

The development of quasi-1D Co 3 O 4 /ZnO nanocomposites by a two-step plasma enhanced-chemical vapor deposition (PE-CVD) process is presented. Arrays of ⟨001⟩ oriented ZnO nanorods were first grown on Si(100) and subsequently used as templates for the PE-CVD of Co 3 O 4, whose amount was tailored as a function of dep…

We present the results of polarized Raman spectroscopy of hexagonal BaFe 12 O 19 single crystal. The spectra, recorded from 200 to 800 cm –1 and 1100 to 1700 cm –1 in the 20–250 K temperature range, are analyzed on the basis of both crystal vibrations and spin‐waves. Flat bands near Fermi level of topological line defects on graphite

Lei Feng、Xianqing Lin、Lan Meng 等 6 位作者2012-09-10Applied Physics Letters

Here, we report direct experimental evidence for the presence of flat bands, close to the Fermi level, in one-dimensional topological defects of graphite. The flat bands are manifested by a pronounced peak in the tunnelling density of states. Our ab initio calculations indicate that the flat bands with vanishing Fermi…
