Dalia Abdallah、Jamie Whelan、Julian M. Dust 等 5 位作者2009-05-20The Journal of Physical Chemistry A

We have investigated the model light harvesting systems (LHSs) A and B typifying energy transfer (ET) between a naphthalene, Np (donor, D), and an azobenzene, Az (acceptor, A), shown schematically in Scheme 2 . These models were actualized as the naphthyl azo molecules 1 and 4 containing a methylene tether (Scheme 1).…

X-ray diffraction as a tool for the determination of the structure of double-walled carbon nanotube batches

Julien Cambedouzou、M. Chorro、R. Almairac 等 8 位作者2009-05-20Physical Review B

The average structure of double-walled carbon nanotube (DWCNT) samples can be determined by x-ray diffraction (XRD). We present a formalism that allows XRD patterns of DWCNTs to be simulated and we give researchers the tools needed to perform these calculations themselves. Simulations of XRD patterns within this forma…

Abstract The differences that direct melt compounding and masterbatch dilution cause in the properties of melt compounded polypropylene (PP) and high density polyethylene‐based (PE‐HD) nanocomposites are presented. The results include comparison of properties and morphology of directly melt processed organoclay nanoco…

Localized tungsten deposition in divertor region in JT-60U

Y. Ueda、M. Fukumoto、Jun Watanabe 等 13 位作者2009-05-20Nuclear Fusion

Tungsten local transport in the diverter region emitted from the outer divertor was studied in JT-60U. Tungsten-coated CFC tiles were installed in the outer divertor position, on which outer strike points did not normally sit. A neutron activation method to measure tungsten surface density was used for the first time.…

Marco Laurenti、Enrique López‐Cabarcos、F. García-Blanco 等 5 位作者2009-05-20Langmuir

In this work, we present a facile and reproducible method to obtain thermally responsive, monodisperse, fluorescent microgels with diameters smaller than 700 nm based on poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAM) interpenetrated with poly(thiophene-ethyl buthyl sulfonate) (PTEBS). Changing the temperature and inducing the…

Diffusion in the random gap model of monolayer and bilayer graphene

K. Ziegler2009-05-20Physical Review B

In this paper we study the effect of a fluctuating gap in mono- and bilayer graphene, created by a symmetry-breaking random potential. We identify a continuous symmetry for the two-particle Green's function which is spontaneously broken in the average two-particle Green's function and leads to a massless fermion mode.…

MAGNETICALLY CONTROLLED TERAHERTZ ABSORPTION AND EMISSION IN CARBON NANOTUBES

M. E. Portnoi、M. Rosenau da Costa、O. V. Kibis 等 4 位作者2009-05-20International Journal of Modern Physics B

We show that an experimentally attainable magnetic field applied along the axis of a metallic carbon nanotube not only opens the gap in the nanotube energy spectrum but also allows optical transitions, which are forbidden in the absence of the field. Possible terahertz applications of this effect are discussed.
