Yanke Che、Ling Zang2009-01-01Chemical Communications

The fluorescence sensing of amine vapor was largely enhanced upon using ultrathin nanofibers, which were fabricated from N-(1-hexylheptyl)perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxyl-3,4-anhydride-9,10-imide by a new self-assembly approach.

At the onset of dissolution in water, cubic MgO smoke crystals present (110) cuts of the edges of the cubes. Next, (111) facets progressively dominate the shape of the crystallites, which finally transform into truncated octahedra. The morphology of the crystallites that are derived from surface energies computed with…

V2O5 xerogel electrodes with much enhanced lithium-ion intercalation properties with N2 annealing

Dawei Liu、Yanyi Liu、Betzaida Batalla García 等 7 位作者2009-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

V2O5 xerogel films were fabricated by casting V2O5 sols onto FTO glass substrates and annealing at 300 °C for 3 hours in nitrogen and air. The films annealed in nitrogen and air possessed different grain size and crystallinity. Optical absorption measurements and electrochemical impedance analyses revealed a reduced o…

Alloyed semiconductor nanocrystals with broad tunable band gaps

Daocheng Pan、Ding Weng、Xiaolei Wang 等 8 位作者2009-01-01Chemical Communications

Nearly monodisperse alloyed (CuInS2)x(ZnS)1-x nanocrystals with cubic and hexagonal phases were successfully synthesized for the first time, and the band gaps of these alloyed nanocrystals can be tuned in the broad range of 1.5 to 3.7 eV by changing the ratio of CuInS2 to ZnS.

A fundamental issue that remains to be solved when approaching the nanoscale is how the size induces transformation among different polymorphic structures. Understanding the size‐induced transformation among the different polymorphic structures is essential for widespread use of nanostructured materials in technologic…

Michael Kokotov、Gary Hodes2009-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Simple potassium permanganate solution treatment of various substrates (we discuss here mainly glass and plastic substrates) results in formation of a Mn–(hydroxy)oxide deposit on the substrate. This deposit, which can be totally invisible to both the eye and to a spectrophotometer, acts as an efficient seed layer tha…

Development of High-Pressure Sliding Process for Microstructural Refinement of Rectangular Metallic Sheets

Tadayoshi Fujioka、Zenji Horita2009-01-01MATERIALS TRANSACTIONS

A new processing technique, called in this study as high-pressure sliding (HPS), was developed as a process of severe plastic deformation (SPD). It is then demonstrated that HPS can be used for grain refinement of metallic sheets with a rectangular shape which was difficult with a conventional high-pressure torsion ut…
