Differential cross sections of an electron scattering by two-centre Coulomb potentials

Haruhide Miyagi、Tōru Morishita、Shinichi Watanabe2012-11-05Journal of Physics Conference Series

We have developed an efficient numerical method for calculating the differential cross sections (DCSs) of an electron scattering by two nuclei fixed in the space based on the R -matrix propagation technique in the prolate spheroidal coordinates. The DCSs of H + 2 and HeH 2+ are demonstrated.

Disintegration of positronium: Low energy Compton scattering and photoabsorption

Zoran Kaliman、K. Pisk、R. H. Pratt 等 4 位作者2012-11-05Journal of Physics Conference Series

We study interference effects in Compton scattering of a photon from positronium. Interference effects, which are due to the binding of an electron and a positron, are important at lower energies up to several keV. In our study we use full nonrelativistic electron/positron-photon interaction.

Vacuum Technology in the study of Graphene

Amitabh Ghoshal、Sumana Banerjee、Dipankar Chakraborty2012-11-05Journal of Physics Conference Series

Graphene, an allotrope of carbon is a two-dimensional sheet of covalently bonded carbon atoms that has been attracting great attention in the field of electronics. In a recent review graphene is defined as a flat monolayer of carbon atoms tightly packed into a 2-D honeycomb lattice. A survey has been made of the produ…

A new method is described that allows super-elastic (SE) electron scattering studies to be extended to a wider range of targets. The technique employs an in-vacuum resonant optical enhancement cavity to amplify the intensity of the radiation interacting with the target atom. Initial SE results for Ca in a cavity are p…

Breit interaction effect on the polarization of the Lyman-α1x-ray line emitted by hydrogen-like ions excited by electron impact

Christopher J. Bostock、Dmitry V. Fursa、Igor Bray2012-11-05Journal of Physics Conference Series

The relativistic convergent close-coupling (RCCC) method has been used to resolve the discrepancy between theory and experiment for the polarization of the Lyman-α 1 x-ray line emitted by hydrogen-like Ti 21+ , Ar 17+ and Fe 25+ ions excited by electron impact. We find that account of Breit relativistic corrections is…

Broadening of electron beams through a macroscopic glass capillary

B.S. Dassanayake、Alaa Ayyad、Susanta Das 等 6 位作者2012-11-05Journal of Physics Conference Series

Broadening of transmitted electron angular profiles through a single cylindrically-shaped glass capillary was studied. The broadening effects were almost two times smaller than under similar conditions for HCIs, and transmitted electrons were found to lose energy due to poor charge deposition at the capillary exit.
