Masayoshi Mikami、Norihito Kijima、Bruno Bertrand 等 5 位作者2011-05-01IOP Conference Series Materials Science and Engineering

Some theoretical approaches are reviewed to analyze crystallographic and optical properties of phosphors for white light emitting diodes. Stresses are placed on 1) local electro-neutrality for the structural stability of hosts, and 2) dielectric property and coordination of anion ligands around rare-earth luminescent…

Chunmei Zhang、Changzhen Man、Weiwei Wang 等 5 位作者2011-05-01Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering

Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) films were exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light (254 nm) and water bath of 60°C and 80°C. The limiting viscosity ([η]) of PLLA decreased from initial 187.4 dl/g to 42.2 dl/g after UV irradiation, and to 33.3 dl/g after soaking in 80°C water for 40 h, while the [η] of PLLA exposed to 60°C water rema…

Influence of lanthanum content and annealing temperature on the size and magnetic properties of sol–gel derived Y1 − x La x FeO3 nanocrystals

Dinh Van Tac、В. О. Миттова、I. Ya. Mittova2011-05-01Inorganic Materials

Y1 − x La x FeO3 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) nanocrystals have been prepared by a sol-gel process. With increasing lanthanum content (x from 0 to 0.4), their size decreases significantly (from 34 to 16 nm), whereas their magnetization increases. Raising the annealing temperature increases their size.

Abstract In this study, we investigate the vibrations of the cantilever single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) with attached bacterium on the tip in view of developing the sensor. This sensor will be able to help to identify the bacterium or virus that may be attached to the SWCNT. Two cases are considered: These are l…

Low voltage and high transmittance blue-phase LCDs with double-side in-plane switching electrodes

Yanqing Chen、Yubao Sun、Guoqiang Yang2011-05-01Liquid Crystals

A polymer-stabilised blue-phase liquid crystal display (PSBP-LCD) with double-side in-plane switching (DS-IPS) electrode structure is proposed. The DS-IPS electrodes generate more horizontal fields to induce isotropic-to-anisotropic transition in the BP-LC medium through the Kerr effect. The strip electrodes of the to…

Thermoelectric properties and oxidation behaviour of Magnesium Silicide

Jun-ichi Tani、Masanari Takahashi、H. Kido2011-05-01IOP Conference Series Materials Science and Engineering

We study the oxidation behaviour of Mg 2 Si and the thermoelectric properties of Mg 2 Si composites. Above 723 K, Mg 2 Si reacts with O 2 in air to yield MgO and Si. Using the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami (JMA) equation, the Avrami exponent ( n ) is equal to ~0.5, and it depends on the reaction temperature and time; this indic…

Porous Mg formation upon dehydrogenation of MgH2 thin films

Joseph A. Dura、Stephen T. Kelly、Paul Kienzle 等 8 位作者2011-05-01Journal of Applied Physics

The hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of a thin film of Mg with a Pd cap layer was measured using neutron reflectometry. Upon hydrogenation, (at 373 K and 0.2 MPa H2), the Mg film swelled in the surface normal direction by an amount roughly equal to the difference in volume between MgH2 and Mg. After dehydrogenation (…
