放射線適応応答は、予め低線量放射線を照射しておくことにより、その後の高い線量の放射線に対する感受性が一過性に低下する生体応答である。 感受性の低下は、一般的に低線量放射線照射後数時間から始まり、1 日程度で終息する。しかし、低線量率放射線照射が長時間に渡る場合には、放射線抵抗性が持続的に誘導される可能性も考えられることから、福島原子力発電所 事故にともなう住民の長期被ばくの健康影響評価においても考慮すべき生体応答と考えられる。本ワークショップでは、放射線適応応答の分子機構 に関する研究の現状をまとめ、今後の適応応答研究の進展の方向性を探ることを目的としている。
