Transport and magnetic properties of dilute rare-earth–PbSe alloys

Vladimir Jovovic、S. Thiagarajan、Jessica E. West 等 8 位作者2007-08-15Journal of Applied Physics

Polycrystalline alloys of PbSe with rare-earth elements (Ce, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd, and Yb) have been prepared and their magnetic susceptibility (from 4 to 120 K), galvanomagnetic and thermomagnetic transport (from 80 to 380 K) properties have been measured. Most samples are paramagnetic, and the concentration of rare-earth…

Yuchen Song、Huaiwu Zhang、Qi Wen 等 5 位作者2007-08-15Journal of Applied Physics

Ce 1 − x Co x O 2 − δ films with the stoichiometry of x=0,0.03,0.06,0.1,0.125 were fabricated on Si(111) substrates using O2 assisted pulse laser deposition method. While pure CeO2 film is weak paramagnetism, integration of low Co content of 3at.% introduces ferromagnetim with a giant saturation moment (Ms) of 5μB∕Co…

Udo Lang、Jürg Dual2007-08-15Key engineering materials

In recent years there have been vast efforts to establish organic electronic devices. A key property of such devices is the possibility to fabricate them on flexible substrates. As the layers are mechanically stressed during bending, the knowledge of mechanical properties of the materials used will become very importa…

Influence of ZnO seed crystals and annealing on the optical quality of low-temperature grown ZnO nanorods

C. Bekeny、T. Voss、Brent Hilker 等 9 位作者2007-08-15Journal of Applied Physics

The influence of ZnO seed crystals and postgrowth annealing on low-temperature aqueous chemically grown ZnO nanorods is analyzed. At the seed crystal/nanorod interface a high density of structural defects leads to emission at 3.332 eV, attributed to excitons bound to structural defects. This peak is absent for seed cr…

Hisayoshi Takamori、Tsuyohiko Fujigaya、Yuji Yamaguchi 等 4 位作者2007-08-15Advanced Materials

The spontaneous formation of self-assembled honeycomb-patterned structures from a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) solution is shown. Simple solution casting of a SWNT–lipid conjugate (complex 1) on solid substrates is used. Microporous films (see figure) are cast from solutions of the complex in various solvents.

Polymorphism inN-Salicylideneaniline Reconsidered

F. Arod、Philip Pattison、Kurt Schenk 等 4 位作者2007-08-15Crystal Growth & Design

The aromatic Schiff base N -salicylideneaniline (SA) represents the aristotype of a whole family of chromic derivatives. SA forms two photochromic polymorphs, α 1 and α 2, both of which feature non-coplanar phenyl rings. Since many details of its reversible photoreactivity are still unexplained, we report the structur…

Structural, microstructural, and transport properties of highly oriented LaNiO3 thin films deposited on SrTiO3 (100) single crystal

Giovanni Pimenta Mambrini、E. R. Leite、M. T. Escote 等 7 位作者2007-08-15Journal of Applied Physics

Electrical conductive textured LaNiO3/SrTiO3 (100) thin films were successfully produced by the polymeric precursor method. A comparison between features of these films of LaNiO3 (LNO) when heat treated in a conventional furnace (CF) and in a domestic microwave (MW) oven is presented. The x-ray diffraction data indica…

Size effect in polymer nanofibers under tension

Xiang‐Fa Wu、Yuris A. Dzenis2007-08-15Journal of Applied Physics

This article studies the size effect on the elastic behavior of solid and hollow polymer nanofibers (e.g., electrospun nanofibers) subjected to uniaxial tension. A one-dimensional nonlinear elastic tension model is proposed that takes into account the coupling effect of fiber elastic deformation and surface tension. T…

Y. Yan、Xiaoqiao He、L. X. ZHANG 等 4 位作者2007-08-15Journal of Applied Physics

Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) are modeled based on Donnell’s shell theory, and flow-induced instability that is induced when pressure-driven fluid goes through the inner tube at a steady flow velocity is studied. The van der Waals (vdW) interaction between the inner and outer walls is taken into account in t…
