Somrerk Chandra-ambhorn、Francine Roussel-Dherbey、F. Toscan 等 6 位作者2007-04-01Materials Science and Technology

The present paper deals with mechanical adhesion energy determination of thermal oxide scales on metallic alloys. AISI 430Ti alloy (Fe–18Cr–0·4Ti–0·5Si, wt-%) was isothermally oxidised at 900°C in Ar–20%O 2 atmosphere to grow thermal oxide scales of various thickness. These oxide/metal systems were subjected to room t…

Ion channeling through carbon nanotubes

Z. L. Mišković2007-04-01Radiation effects and defects in solids

Recent progress in theoretical modeling of ion channeling through carbon nanotubes is reviewed. Specific aspects of the high (GeV), medium (MeV), and low (keV) ranges of ion energy are discussed and contrasted. Conclusions are drawn in an attempt to assist in preparing experiments on this unique channeling system.

Structure of a TiOx Zigzag-Like Monolayer on Pt(111)

Giovanni Barcaro、Francesco Sedona、Alessandro Fortunelli 等 4 位作者2007-04-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The structure of a monolayer phase of TiO x on Pt(111) has been investigated by low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), atomic resolved scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), and density functional (DF) calculations. According to LEED, the rectangular unit cell (6.8 × 8.6 Å 2 ) is incommensurate with respect to the Pt(1…

A new type of conductive filler, namely expanded graphite (EG), was used to prepare novel nanocomposites. The EG was incorporated into several rather different polymers, specifically polycarbonate (PC), low‐density polyethylene (LDPE), isotactic polypropylene (PP), and polystyrene (PS), using melt mixing in a small‐sc…

We present a theoretical and experimental study of a bilayered metamaterial structure for subwavelength imaging of magnetic field. The simplest version of such a structure consists of one or two linear arrays of capacitively loaded split pipe resonators. Its subwavelength physics is governed by strongly anisotropic ma…

The nature of ferroelectricity under pressure

Igor Kornev、L. Bellaïche2007-04-01Phase Transitions

Advances in first-principles computational approaches have, over the past fifteen years, made possible the investigation of physical properties of ferroelectric systems. In particular, such approaches have led to a microscopic understanding of the occurrence of ferroelectricity in perovskite oxides at ambient pressure…

Samuel D. Somasundaram、Andreas Jakobsson、J. A. S. Smith 等 4 位作者2007-04-01IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing

Nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) is a radio-frequency technique that can be used to detect the presence of quadrupolar nuclei, such as the$^{14}{\rm N}$nucleus prevalent in many explosives and narcotics. In a typical application, one observes trains of decaying NQR echoes, in which the decay is governed by the spin…
