Maher Atari、P Chatakun、Orlando Ortiz 等 12 位作者2011-12-01PubMed

The use of autogenous grafts is still considered in bone regeneration surgeries. However, the bone cell viability of such grafts after being harvested from donor sites remains a matter of debate. The aim of the present study is to evaluate particulated and block bone cell viability, in terms of presence or absence of…

STRENGTH ENHANCEMENT FROM HETEROGENEOUS NETWORKS OF ETHYLENE–PROPYLENE/ETHYLENE–PROPYLENE–DIENE

G. S. Buckley、D. Fragiadakis、C. M. Roland2011-12-01Rubber Chemistry and Technology

Abstract Random copolymers of ethylene and propylene are usually miscible with the corresponding unsaturated terpolymer (EPDM). Vulcanization of these blends yields networks in which only the EPDM is cross-linked. Despite chemical modification of the EPDM by its reaction with sulfur, there is no phase-separation evide…

This work presents a multiscale photoelectrochemical characterization of oxide layers, and aims mainly at introducing the mesoscopic scale (ca 30 µm). For the first time, photocurrent energy spectra could be recorded on individual ferritic and austenitic grains of a unique 2205 duplex stainless steel sample oxidized f…

ANALISIS MODULUS ELASTISITAS DAN ANGKA POISSON BAHAN DENGAN UJI TARIK

Matheus Souisa2011-12-01BAREKENG JURNAL ILMU MATEMATIKA DAN TERAPAN

Observation of the stress and strain in materials steel, brass and anneal is done by testing to determine the tensile modulus of elasticity of the material. The results showed that the modulus of elasticity of the material brass is smaller than the brass alloy steel and steel materials, caused by the formation of the…

Thermal Decomposition Behavior of Amino Groups Modified Bimodal Mesoporous Silicas as Aspirin Carrier

Lin Gao、Jihong Sun、Li Zhang 等 5 位作者2011-12-01Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Two kinds of amino groups were employed to functionalize bimodal mesoporous silicas and related drug carriers were prepared. The characterization results of XRD, N2 adsorption and desorption, FT-IR and TG all confirmed the structural integrity of the bimodal mesopore architecture after introduction treatment of functi…

Synthesis and Characterization of Highly Organosoluble Polyimides Based on a New Asymmetric Dianhydride

Ke Zeng、Shaohong Zhou、Haojun Fan 等 4 位作者2011-12-01Designed Monomers & Polymers

A new asymmetric biphenyl dianhydride, 2-o-tert-butylphenoxy-4,4′,5,5′-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride, was readily synthesized via a four-step route. The key intermediate, 2-nitro-bis(N-methylphthalimide) (2), was synthesized at low temperature (around 15°C), with a yield of over 90%, which enhances the molecular…

A piezoelectric single-crystal ultrasonic microactuator for driving optics

Mingsen Guo、Shuxiang Dong、Bo Ren 等 4 位作者2011-12-01IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control

At the millimeter scale, the motions or force out puts generated by conventional piezoelectric, magnetostrictive, photostrictive, or electromagnetic actuators are very limited. Here, we report a piezoelectric ultrasonic microactuator (size: 1.5 × 1.5 × 5 mm, weight: 0.1 g) made of PIN-PMN-PT single crystal. The actuat…

Redefining the Wilhelmy and Young equations to imaginary number space and implications for wettability measurements

Herbert P. Jennissen2011-12-01Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik

Abstract Although Wilhelmy balance measurements have been reported to yield undefined values of the type cos θ > 1, this phenomenon often goes unnoticed because commercial instruments fail to report this error, listing a contact angle of zero instead. On rough superhydrophilic surfaces such “undefined” values appea…

Experiments on the irradiation of silver nitrate solutions in various liquids by the nanosecond electron beam of a URT-0.5 (0.5 MeV, 50 ns, 1 kW) accelerator facilitated the development of technology for producing silver nanopowders. The powder yield and particle size as a function of the irradiation mode has been est…

Simulation of graphene nanoscale RF transistors including scattering and generation/recombination mechanisms

Alan Paussa、Matteo Geromel、Pierpaolo Palestri 等 6 位作者2011-12-01OpenAlex

We present a Monte Carlo simulator for RF graphene FETs including the dominant scattering mechanisms and a simple model for band-to-band tunneling. We found that in state-of-the-art devices scattering is relevant and degrades the cut-off frequency compared to the predictions of ballistic models.

We report the magnetic field dependence of resistivity (ρ) and specific heat (C) for the non-superconducting PrFeAsO compound. Our study shows a hitherto unobserved anomaly at TSR in the resistivity and specific heat data, which arises as a result of the interplay of antiferromagnetic (AFM) Pr and Fe sublattices. Belo…

Fluorescent Carbon Dots (CDs) as a pH Sensor

Feng Lin、Wei He、Xiang Guo2011-12-01Advanced materials research

The pH-dependent properties of carbon dots (CDs), decorated with surface carboxylic acid functional groups, are described. Absorption, fluorescence emission measurements were used to study the reversible pH-dependent spectral response. The pH-dependent emissions of CDs demonstrate a strong dependence on the excitation…

Control of Inter-fiber Fusing for Nanofiber Webs via Electrospinning

Bharath K. Raghavan、Douglas W. Coffin2011-12-01Journal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics

Electrospinning provides a viable method to produce both single fibers and mats of nonwoven fibers. For a nonwoven mat, fusing of the fibers at intersections produces an integrated structure. The ability to spin fibrous mats of nanofibers with and without fusing between the fibers is demonstrated using poly(ethylene o…
