We extend designs of perfect lenses to the focusing of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) propagating at the interface between two anisotropic media of opposite permittivity sign. We identify the role played by the components of anisotropic and heterogeneous tensors of permittivity and permeability, deduced from a coor…

Abstract The vibrational contribution to static and dynamic (hyper)polarizabilities for the zigzag ( n ,0) family of BN nanotubes, with n ranging from (6,0) to (36,0), has been obtained. Calculations were done by the finite field nuclear relaxation (FF‐NR) method for periodic systems, newly implemented in the CRYSTAL…

SBA-15 exhibits a biporous character consisting of primary mesopores and intrawall pores ranging from micropore to mesopore size. We successfully demonstrated the removal of the intrawall porosity upon addition of NaI. The characteristic mesopore size, wall thickness, particle size, and morphology were maintained.

Abstract The effects of strain rate and water absorption properties can be used to evaluate the environmental degradation of sisal fiber reinforced polymer–matrix composites. Composites of vinylester and epoxy resin, reinforced by sisal fiber, were manufactured using the RTM method. To examine how the mechanical prope…

Abstract The rheological properties of sisal fiber (SF)/polylactic acid (PLA) composites of different SF content and initial fiber length were evaluated using a torque rheometer. Since the SF configuration directly affected the rheological properties of the composites, the length and width of SFs in the final composit…

A new family of low thermal expansion niobate ceramics was discovered that sinter to form unusual high permeability microstructures. The coefficient of thermal expansion ( CTE ) can be tailored from −4 × 10 −7 /°C to +40 × 10 −7 /°C by control of composition and firing temperature. The inherent vapor‐phase transport s…

To utilize a new conformation-dependent backbone-geometry library (CDL) in protein refinements at atomic resolution, a script was written that creates a restraint file for the SHELXL refinement program. It was found that the use of this library allows models to be created that have a substantially better fit to main-c…
