Abstract Fine-controlled metal–organic hybridization is strongly desired for advanced nano-materials. Dendrimers are highly branched organic macromolecules with successive layers or “generations” of branch units surrounding a central core. Metal–organic hybrid versions have also been produced by trapping metal ions or…

Oxide film characteristics of AZ91 magnesium alloy in casting conditions

Alireza Mirak、M. Divandari、S. M. A. Boutorabi 等 4 位作者2007-08-01International Journal of Cast Metals Research

Molten magnesium alloys oxidise rapidly during casting and handling if adequate prevention measures are not taken. New oxide films that form in a very short time during pouring seem to be one of the main reasons for dross-like defects. The characteristics of these new oxide films were observed. The magnesium alloy AZ9…

Lucigenin Chemiluminescence Induced by Noble Metal Nanoparticles in the Presence of Adsorbates

Jizhao Guo、Hua Cui2007-08-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

It was found that noble metal nanoparticles including Ag, Au, and Pt nanoparticles in the presence of adsorbates such as iodide ion, cysteine, mercaptoacetic acid, mercaptopropionic acid, and thiourea could reduce lucigenin (bis- N -methylacridinium) to produce chemiluminescence (CL). Lucigenin−Ag−KI system was chosen…

Huan Wang、Jiyun Feng、Xijun Hu 等 4 位作者2007-08-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

Aligned multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were grown on both sides of a metallic or metal-coated substrate by water-vapor-assisted chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Aligned CNT films with thicknesses ranging from 1 to >100 μm were obtained. By manipulating various operating factors, namely, the position of the subs…

Structure and properties of injection‐molded polypropylene with sorbitol‐based clarifier

Miwa Tenma、Masayuki Yamaguchi2007-08-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract The relationship between the structure and the optical properties of isotactic polypropylene (PP) containing 1,3:2,4‐di‐ p ‐methylbenzylidene sorbitol (MDBS) has been studied. It is found that thinner injection‐molded plaques of PP/MDBS show higher levels of transparency than compression‐molded plaques. The e…

Improved Hydrogen Storage of LiBH4 Catalyzed Magnesium

Jianfeng Mao、Zhu Wu、T. J. Chen 等 11 位作者2007-08-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The effect of LiBH 4 on the hydrogen sorption performance of magnesium was investigated. It was found that the hydrogen storage properties of LiBH 4 /Mg mixtures exhibit a dramatic improvement as compared to plain magnesium powder. For example, at 250 °C, a LiBH 4 /Mg (mass ratio 1:4) composite can absorb 6.7 wt % hyd…

Phonon dispersion in graphene

L. A. Falkovsky2007-08-01Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics

Taking into account the constraints imposed by the lattice symmetry, we calculate the phonon dispersion for graphene with interactions between the first and second nearest neighbors. We show that only five force constants give a very good fitting to the elastic constants and phonon frequencies observed in graphite.
