Quality of byproducts from chemical and physical refining of palm oil and other oils

Wong Mong Hong1983-02-01Journal of the American Oil Chemists Society

Abstract Being byproducts, palm soapstock, palm acid oil and palm fatty acid distillates (PFAD) have a wide range of quality and composition. They also consist of many impurities and minor components. Due to development of refining techniques. PFAD have largely replaced palm acid oil, especially in the producing count…

The isolated partial and dissociated total dislocations in deformed ZnS crystals

A. V. Zaretskii、Yu. A. Osip’yan、Victor F. Petrenko 等 5 位作者1983-02-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

The dislocation structure of plastically deformed ZnS crystals has been studied using transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that both total and partial dislocations are simultaneously available in the crystal. The total dislocations are dissociated into Shockley partials.

Etude microstructurale de carbures M 7C3

J. P. Morniroli、M. Gantois1983-02-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

Three cells with trigonal, orthorhombic or hexagonal symmetry have been proposed to describe M 7 C 3 carbides. Examinations of heavily faulted chromium, iron, vanadium mixed carbides present in white cast irons and in chromium steels have been performed by means of electron microscopy and diffraction. Electron diffrac…

Voronoi cells: An interesting and potentially useful cell model for interpreting the small-angle scattering of catalysts

H. Brumberger、Jerry Goodisman1983-02-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

A structural model, based on Voronoi polyhedral cells partly filled with support and metallic catalyst, is proposed for interpreting the small-angle X-ray scattering of heterogeneous catalysts. The model's properties are described, and the model is applied to porous Al 2 O 3 and Pt/porous Al 2 O 3 . Surface areas calc…

On the structure, chemistry, and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance of ravidomycin

John A. Findlay、Jia-Sen Liu、Lajos Radics1983-02-01Canadian Journal of Chemistry

Full spectral details in support of the earlier proposed structure 1a for the antitumor antibiotic ravidomycin are presented together with an account of chemical degradation products. A complete corroboration of structure is provided by cross correlation of 1 H and 13 C nmr for ravidomycin and its diacetate 1b.

Evidence for classical critical behavior at the nematic-isotropic phase transition

Charles Rosenblatt1983-02-01Physical Review A

Magnetically induced birefringence measurements were performed in the isotropic phase of methoxybenzylidene butylaniline (MBBA). Over the entire temperature range studied, $\ensuremath{\Delta}n$ was found to be linear in ${H}^{2}$ to fields over 10 T. This result is consistent with the Landau model of the nematic-isot…

Cross-slip of twinning dislocations on crossing domain boundaries in ordered Ni3V

G. Vanderschaeve、B. Escaig1983-02-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

Zigzag propagation of deformation microtwins across the domain structure, as observed by electron microscopy in ordered Ni3V alloy, is shown to be due to cross-slip of partial dislocations via the stair-rod mode (Fleischer 1959). Twin bands change direction to preserve the long-range order inside domains. The peculiar…

Bond-orientationally-ordered phases that scatter light strongly

John Toner1983-02-01Physical Review A

Bond-orientational order in materials that form three-dimensional uniaxial solids is investigated. New phases are found that scatter light strongly, like nematics, but with a quantitatively different anisotropy of scattering. X-ray scattering from these phases would also exhibit novel anisotropy. This type of order ma…

Calculation of scattering curves for macromolecules in solution and comparison with results of methods using effective atomic scattering factors

Jürgen Müller1983-02-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

An improved cube method was developed for the computation of X-ray scattering curves of macromolecules in solution. For double-helical DNA and RNA molecules the efficiency of this method is shown. The results are compared with curves calculated by effective atomic scattering factor methods. In the small-angle and in t…

Microstructures of Cu-rich Amalgams after Corrosion

J.H. Chern Lin、Grayson W. Marshall、S.J. Marshall1983-02-01Journal of Dental Research

In vitro corrosion of Cu-rich amalgams resulted in selective attack of the η' phase. Copper was removed, and SnO 2 products were found in pores and along matrix grain boundaries. The corrosion process greatly accelerated the γ 1 →β 1 transformation.
