Challenges in simulation of optical properties of metallic nanoparticles using the discrete dipole approximation

Maxim A. Yurkin2012-01-01AIP conference proceedings

I discuss the accuracy and computational time of the discrete dipole approximation (DDA) when applied to metal nanoparticles. The accuracy of the DDA can be made satisfactory by refining discretization (or increasing number of dipoles), but the required discretization level strongly depends on particle shape and refra…

In soft magnetic amorphous and nanocrystalline alloys where anisotropy varies randomly over a length scale determined by the micro structure, there exist a distribution of anisotropies. It is possible to determine such distribution of random anisotropies from the magnetization curve. Anisotropy field distribution of a…

In this paper, we successfully produced Al-Ti-B-C master alloys through adding mixtures of Ti and B4C powders into Al melt. XRD and SEM examinations suggest that only fine TiB2 and TiC particles are formed in the matrix of Al-Ti-B-C master alloy when the Ti/B4C molar ratio is 3/1, while an additional TiAl3 phase is pr…

Cu(ReTaNx) Copper Alloy Films Suitable for Electronic-Device Manufacturing-Process Simplification

Chon-Hsin Lin2012-01-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

In this study, we prepare Cu(ReTa) and Cu(ReTaNx) films via reactive cosputtering of copper (Cu), rhenium (Re), and tantalum (Ta) on a barrierless silicon (Si) substrate in an argon–nitrogen (Ar–N2) atmosphere. These Cu(ReTa) and Cu(ReTaNx) films, after annealing at 630 and 750 °C for 1 h, exhibit two values of resist…
