Superplastic Alumina at Temperatures below 1300°C Using Charge‐Compensating Dopants

Liang Xue、I‐Wei Chen1996-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

To achieve low‐temperature superplasticity in alumina, we have introduced charge‐compensating dopants, Ti 4+ and Mn 2+ , which jointly have a high solubility and significantly enhance the diffusion and deformation processes during sintering and forming. Zirconia as a second‐phase pinning agent has also been incorporat…

Decomposition of 2-chlorophenol in aqueous solution by ultrasound/ho process

作者信息未提供1996-01-01Water Science & Technology

Several authors have indicated that ultrasound is effective in oxidizing organic contaminants in water and in wastewater either as the sole means of treatment or in combination with ozonation and UV irradiation. In this work we decomposed 2-chlorophenol (2-cp) in aqueous solution with ultrasound and H 2 O 2 . The expe…

Gradient plasticity in numerical simulation of concrete cracking

René de Borst、Jerzy Pamin1996-01-01TU/e Research Portal

In a continuum approach to concrete fracture a gradient-dependent plasticity theory is used to preserve the well-posedness of the problem in the softening regime and to obtain finitely sized fracture process zones. The theory employs a Rankine failure surface which is dependent on an equivalent fracture strain measure…

Microstructure Evolutions and Iron Redistribution in Zircaloy Oxide Layers: Comparative Effects of Neutron Irradiation Flux and Irradiation Damages

X. Iltis、Florence Lefebvre-Joud、C. Lemaignan1996-01-01OpenAlex

To understand the acceleration of the Zircaloy corrosion kinetics in PWR conditions, TEM microstructural characterizations of oxide layers grown in an autoclave or directly in-reactor have been performed. To separate the influence on the oxidation process of the irradiation damage in the alloy from the dynamic effect…

The relative positions of alanine residues in the hydrophobic core control the formation of two-stranded or four-stranded α-helical coiled-coils

Oscar D. Monera、Frank D. Sönnichsen、Les Hicks 等 5 位作者1996-01-01Protein Engineering Design and Selection

The objective of this study was to investigate the positional effect of hydrophobic interactions in the alpha-helical interface in controlling the formation of two-stranded and four-stranded coiled-coils. Two disulfide-bridged antiparallel coiled-coils were designed which differ only in the position of a single Ala re…

Drug delivery to the brain using thermosensitive liposome and local hyperthermia

Kenichi Kakinuma、Reina Tanaka、Hideaki Takahashi 等 6 位作者1996-01-01International Journal of Hyperthermia

We investigated the possibilities of drug delivery to the brain using thermosensitive liposomes and hyperthermia. Thermosensitive liposomes are small vesicles containing some drugs, which are designed to release the drugs in response to hyperthermia. The first experiment consisted of four groups: (1) received free Cis…

Nucleophilic Substitution Reactions of Polyaniline with Substituted Benzenediazonium Ions: A Facile Method for Controlling the Surface Chemistry of Conducting Polymers

Gang Liu、Michael S. Freund1996-01-01Chemistry of Materials

The surface chemistry of polyaniline films is controlled via the nucleophilic reaction of amines within the polymer with substituted benzenediazonium ions. The nucleophilic reaction is shown to be diffusion-limited regardless of the substituent on the benzenediazonium ion. Chemical modification results in a layered st…

Solubility of Ovalbumin in Ammonium Sulfate Solutions

Russell A. Judge、Michael R. Johns、Edward T. White1996-01-01Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data

The solubilities of the protein ovalbumin in aqueous ammonium sulfate solutions ranging from 18 to 30 g ammonium sulfate/100 g water at 30 °C were determined for pH values in the range 4.58−5.4. A correlation of the data is presented which is estimated to predict solubilities within ±5%.

Frédéric Prochazka、Taco Nicolaï、Dominique Durand1996-01-01Macromolecules

The evolution of the frequency dependence of the viscoelastic properties during the gel formation of polyurethane has been monitored as a function of time. Over the frequency range investigated, the frequency dependence of the shear moduli G‘ and G‘‘ are well described by the power laws G‘ ∼ ω Δ ‘ and G‘‘ ∼ ω Δ ‘‘, fo…

Shigeki Azuma、Hideaki Miyuki、Takeo Kudo1996-01-01ISIJ International

The effect of alloying nitrogen was investigated on crevice corrosion of the 10%Mn-25%Ni-25%Cr-(0∼0.36)%N austenitic steels. From the immersion test results for the multiple crevice specimens in natural seawater, the probability of the occurrence of the crevice corrosion was not dependent upon the nitrogen content, wh…

Measurement of dielectric absorption of capacitors and analysis of its effects on VCOs

J.C. Kuenen、G.C.M. Meijer1996-01-01IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement
