Measurement of Lattice Displacements at Planar Defects in 2H and 18R Martensites

A.M. Condó、F.C. Lovey2004-03-17Microscopy and Microanalysis

A review of transmission electron microscopy studies of planar defects in 18R and 2H martensites in Cu-Zn-Al alloys is presented. The non-basal plane faults observed in the 2H structure, the F1 faults, show two kinds of dislocations at their ends. In contrast, two types of non-basal plane faults are observed in the 18…

Dynamic mechanical analysis of poly(trimethylene terephthalate)—A comparison with poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(ethylene naphthalate)

A. R. Mackintosh、John J. Liggat2004-03-17Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract The fiber properties of PTT have been the subject of several reports, although very few reports describe the properties of molded specimens. In this work, the dynamic mechanical relaxation behavior of compression‐molded PTT films has been investigated. The added flexibility of the PTT was found to lower the t…

Zhiqiang Chen、Z. L. Wang、P. Zhan 等 7 位作者2004-03-17Langmuir

In this article, we demonstrated the synthesis of metallodielectric composite particles comprising a metal shell on a dielectric core and an outer coating of an insulating dielectric layer by depositing silver on silica supporting cores followed by coating of titania. A combination of surface reaction and surface seed…

Xuepin Liao、Zhongbing Lu、Mina Zhang 等 5 位作者2004-03-17Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology

Abstract Novel adsorbents were prepared by immobilizing tannins on collagen fibre matrices. Their adsorption properties, including adsorption equilibrium, adsorption kinetics, and column adsorption kinetics to Cu(II) were investigated. Immobilized Myrica rubra tannin and black wattle tannin exhibited significantly hig…

Improved chitin production by pretreatment of shrimp shells

Kyaw Nyein Aye、Willem F. Stevens2004-03-17Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology

Abstract Pretreatment of shrimp shells was investigated in order to lower the costs and to improve the sustainability of chitin production. Physical pretreatment comprising drying, grinding and sieving is attractive for the recovery of 50% of shrimp protein as a dry powder. Pretreatment of shells by shearing in acidif…

Selective Depositions on Polyelectrolyte Multilayers: Self-Assembled Monolayers of m-dPEG Acid as Molecular Template

Srivatsan Kidambi、Christina Chan、Ilsoon Lee2004-03-17Journal of the American Chemical Society

This paper describes the fabrication of self-assembled monolayer (SAM) patterns of m-d-poly(ethylene glycol) (m-dPEG) acid molecules onto polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs). The patterned SAMs on PEMs were created by ionic interactions using microcontact printing (microCP) technique. The created m-dPEG acid monolayer…

Ruthenium double perovskites: Transport and magnetic properties

Ronald I. Dass、Jiaqiang Yan、John B. Goodenough2004-03-17Physical Review B

The double perovskites ${\mathrm{La}}_{2}M{\mathrm{RuO}}_{6+\ensuremath{\delta}}$ contain ${M}^{2+}$ ions for $M=\mathrm{Mg},$ Zn, Co, and Ni and for $M=\mathrm{Mn}$ and Fe, ${M}^{3+}$ ions. Annealed samples have ordered ${M}^{2+}$ and Ru(IV), but samples with ${M}^{3+}$ ions are atomically disordered and remain oxidi…

Particle size distribution control in emulsion polymerization

Ashwini Sood2004-03-17Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract Effects of the operating policies—the initial initiator amount; the initial emulsifier amount; the monomer addition mode: batch or semibatch; and the monomer addition rate under “monomer‐starved conditions” for the control of particle size distribution (PSD)—were studied through a model that simulates batch a…

Summary 1. The effect of phosphate on species composition in biofilms was studied under three different phosphate regimes (0.5, 5 and 50 μ m ) in two different multi species communities: one composed of the four diatom species Melosira varians , Nitzschia perminuta , Navicula trivialis and Achnanthes lanceolata and on…

Enantiomeric Resolution of a Ruffled Porphyrinoid

H.W. Daniell、Christian Brückner2004-03-17Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Let's twist again: Reaction of a racemic mixture of secochlorinato nickel(ii) with cholesterol generates separable diastereomers of a novel porphyrinic chromophore containing a direct β-to-o-phenyl linkage. Exchange of the cholesteryl side chain for an ethyl group produces the enantiomeric conformers of the ruffled ma…

Joël Barrault、Sébastien Bancquart、Yannick Pouilloux2004-03-17Comptes Rendus Chimie

The preparation of monoglycerides from fatty methyl esters and glycerol can be carried out in the presence of acid or basic catalysts. Moreover, the use of porous and basic solid catalysts could induce a shape selectivity modifying the monoglyceride selectivity. Lauric (C12), myristic (C14) and stearic (C18) acid meth…
