Programming voltage reduction in phase change memory cells with tungsten trioxide bottom heating layer/electrode

Feng Rao、Zhitang Song、Yuefeng Gong 等 6 位作者2008-09-30Nanotechnology

A phase change memory cell with tungsten trioxide bottom heating layer/electrode is investigated. The crystalline tungsten trioxide heating layer promotes the temperature rise in the Ge(2)Sb(2)Te(5) layer which causes the reduction in the reset voltage compared to a conventional phase change memory cell. Theoretical t…

Atomic Force Microscopy Reveals Hydroxyapatite−Citrate Interfacial Structure at the Atomic Level

Wenge Jiang、Haihua Pan、Yurong Cai 等 7 位作者2008-09-30Langmuir

An approach to organic-inorganic interfacial structure at the atomic level is a great challenge in the studies of biomineralization. We demonstrate that atomic force microscopy (AFM) is powerful tool to discover the biomineral interface in detail. By using a model system of (100) hydroxyapatite (HAP) face and citrate,…

Reinforcement of nylon 6 with functionalized silica nanoparticles for enhanced tensile strength and modulus

Hassan Mahfuz、Mohammad M. Hasan、V.R. Dhanak 等 9 位作者2008-09-30Nanotechnology

Pristine and functionalized silica (SiO(2)) nanoparticles were dispersed into nylon 6 and drawn into filaments through melt extrusion. The loading fraction of particles in both cases was 1.0 wt%. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) studies revealed that reinforcement of pristine silica nanoparticles enhances the bond st…

Cytochrome P450-Activated Prodrugs: Targeted Drug Delivery

Kristiina M. Huttunen、Niina Mähönen、Hannu Raunio 等 4 位作者2008-09-30Current Medicinal Chemistry

Cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes are a superfamily of heme containing proteins that catalyze xenobiotic metabolism phase I reactions. Oxidation reactions are the most common CYP-catalyzed reactions for both endogenous substrates and exogenous compounds, including drugs, although CYP enzymes are capable also to catalyze r…

Dynamics and structure of an aging binary colloidal glass

Jennifer M Lynch、Gianguido C. Cianci、Eric R. Weeks2008-09-30Physical Review E

We study aging in a colloidal suspension consisting of micron-sized particles in a liquid. This system is made glassy by increasing the particle concentration. We observe samples composed of particles of two sizes, with a size ratio of 1:2.1 and a volume fraction ratio 1:6, using fast laser scanning confocal microscop…

Defining the Role of Salt Bridges in Protein Stability

Ilian Jelesarov、Andrey Karshikoff2008-09-30Methods in molecular biology

Although the energetic balance of forces stabilizing proteins has been established qualitatively over the last decades, quantification of the energetic contribution of particular interactions still poses serious problems. The reasons are the strong cooperativity and the interdependence ofnoncovalent interactions. Salt…

First Pd@Organo−Si(HIPE) Open-Cell Hybrid Monoliths Generation Offering Cycling Heck Catalysis Reactions

Simona Ungureanu、Hervé Deleuze、Clément Sánchez 等 5 位作者2008-09-30Chemistry of Materials

The syntheses and characterization of a new class of grafted organo−Si(HIPE) “high internal phase emulsion” open-cell matrixes is first proposed. Second, internal palladium particles heterogeneous nucleation is briefly discussed, leading finally to the generation of the new Pd@organo−Si(HIPE) series. The matrixes synt…

Aggregation States of Rhodamine 6G in Mesostructured Silica Films

Luca Malfatti、Tongjit Kidchob、Daniela Aiello 等 6 位作者2008-09-30The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

Mesostructured films are an ideal material for incorporation of fluorescent dyes; controlling the doping process is, however, a critical step because the dyes will be constrained in a complex chemical environment. We have incorporated rhodamine 6G, a well-known fluorescent dye, in silica mesostructured 2d-hexagonal fi…

Long‐Term Fertilization Influences on Clay Mineral Composition and Ammonium Adsorption in a Rice Paddy Soil

Yan-Li Liu、Bin Zhang、Chengliang Li 等 5 位作者2008-09-30Soil Science Society of America Journal

Increasing NH 4 + adsorption can be an effective alternative in building an available N pool in soils to optimize crop recovery and minimize losses into the environment. We hypothesized that long‐term fertilization may change NH 4 + adsorption due to changes in the chemical and mineralogical properties of a rice ( Ory…

Rhythmic Growth-Induced Ring-Banded Spherulites with Radial Periodic Variation of Thicknesses Grown from Poly(ε-caprolactone) Solution with Constant Concentration

Zongbao Wang、Giovanni C. Alfonso、Zhijun Hu 等 5 位作者2008-09-30Macromolecules

Birefringent ring-banded spherulites with radial periodic variation of thicknesses were grown from poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) solutions under conditions for which the solution concentration was held constant during the whole development of the morphology. The as-grown ring-banded spherulites were investigated by optic…

Near-Field Focusing Plates and Their Design

Anthony Grbic、Roberto Merlin2008-09-30IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation

We describe the design of near-field focusing plates, which are grating-like structures that can focus electromagnetic radiation to spots or lines of arbitrarily small subwavelength dimension. A general procedure is outlined for designing a near-field plate to achieve a desired focus, and its implementation at microwa…

Effect of Plasticizer Type and Amount on Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose−Beeswax Edible Film Properties and Postharvest Quality of Coated Plums (Cv. Angeleno)

María Ll. Navarro-Tarazaga、Rungsinee Sothornvit、María B. Pérez‐Gago2008-09-30Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry

The effect of the composition of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC)-beeswax (BW) edible coatings on stand-alone film properties and on postharvest quality of coated 'Angeleno' plums was studied. Glycerol (G) and mannitol (M) were tested as plasticizers at two different plasticizer/HPMC ratios (100:1 and 300:1 molar…

We study the photoresponsive behavior of thin films of supramolecular 4-nitro-4′-hydroxyazobenzene−poly(4-vinylpyridine) complexes.
