The analysis of macrotwins in NiAI martensite
We present a theoretical study of macrotwins arising in cubic to tetragonal martensitic transformations. The results help to explain some features of such macrotwins observed in Ni 65 Al 35 .

Nanocrystalline yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG, Y 3 Al 5 O 12 ) was synthesized by pyrolysis of complex compounds of aluminum and yttrium with triethanolamine [(HOCH 2 CH 2 ) 3 N, (TEA)]. Loose and porous precursor was obtained on complete dehydration of the metal ion–triethanolamine complexes. Pure YAG powder was obtai…
Abstract New aromatic polyimides and polyamide‐imides with phenylquinoxaline rings and dimethylsilane units have been synthesized by solution polycondensation reaction of aromatic diamines containing phenylquinoxaline units with bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenyl)‐dimethylsilane dianhydride, or with a diacid chloride resulting f…
New niobium beryllide Nb 3 Be with A15 structure and lattice parameter a =0.5187±0.0007 nm, coexisting (3–5%) with a tetragonal phase, presumably, of an ordered solid solution with parameters a =0.5414±0.0008 nm and c =0.6378±0.0009 nm, was synthesized by thermal treatment (875–110°C) of amorphous film coatings contai…
Abstract A solution to environmental pollution by polymer plastic wastes can be their chemical modification in to useful products. Such a new solution is the obtaining of effective flocculants for sewage treatment from chemically modified phenol‐formaldehyde resin production wastes (SE and NS novolak) and expanded pol…
In recent years nanostructured materials have been the subjects of intensive research due to their superior physical and mechanical properties. The present study is a review of our own works on the processing and investigation of nanostructured TiNi-based shape memory alloys. Various methods of production have been de…
Austenitic stainless steels (SS) are known to be susceptible to caustic stress corrosion cracking (SCC) at temperatures higher than ~121°C. However, when sulfides are present in caustic solutions the SCC of austenitic SS has been reported to occur at lower temperatures. Hot sulfide-containing caustic solutions are of…
Dada a significativa ocorrência,…
In this study, redesigning for equal functional properties and rapid prototyping of hot forged automotive parts based on commercially available wrought magnesium alloys (AZ80) and composites (AZ80/SiC/12p) were performed. To achieve the same functional properties in a forged automotive component irrespective of the st…
In this paper we study the bubble dynamics driven by an aspherical acoustic field, based on the theory of hydrodynamics. Evolution equations for an aspherical bubble are derived under the aspherical acoustic driving. The numerical calculations show that the aspherical bubble can oscillate stably and periodically under…
This paper describes the practical application of the ultra-high-frequency (UHF) partial discharge (PD) detection method which VA TECH Reyrolle has routinely applied to high-voltage onsite commissioning tests on gas-insulated substations (GISs) for more than 10 yr. The location of the PD sensors has a significant effe…
In an effort to progress in our understanding of the ageing mechanisms of high voltage cables submitted to electrical and thermal stresses, we present a quantitative study of voids, the defects which are considered to be partly responsible for cable failure. We propose a method based on large data sets of transmission…
Abstract In this work, a new methacrylate phosphonate monomer synthesis was described according to two routes: firstly, by condensation of methacrylic acid with a phosphonate epoxide and secondly by an esterification between methacryloyl chloride and a phosphonate diol. The photoinduced polymerization of this new mono…

Several types of microfiltration membranes — polypropylene, cellulose diacetate (nominal pore size=0.2 μm) and polycarbonate (pore size=0.4 μm) — were tested for their microorganism retention ability. Suspensions of Pseudomonas diminuta and bovine red blood cells (RBC) were used for experimental purposes as representa…
Anisotropy is important to the structure and application of nonwoven fabrics. The arrange ment of the fibers and their orientation distribution are related to the mechanical structure of the web. In this study, we used a doffer of the roller card accompanied by a random roller to produce nonwoven fabrics. Partial rand…
The purpose of HV after-laying tests on cable systems on-site is to check the quality of installation. The test on extruded MV cable systems is usually a voltage test. However, in order to enhance the quality of after installation many researchers have proposed performance of diagnosis tests such as detection, locatio…
α‐alumina (α‐Al 2 O 3 , corundum) fibers exhibit high thermal and chemical stability, as well as good mechanical properties, even at high temperatures. Such characteristics make them good candidates for use in composites. Nevertheless, very few methods of producing α‐Al 2 O 3 fibers are available. In the present work,…
Tunneling transport measurements performed on single particles and on arrays of Fe 3 O 4 (magnetite) nanocrystals provide strong evidence for the existence of the Verwey metal-insulator transition at the nanoscale. The resistance measurements on nanocrystal arrays show an abrupt increase of the resistance around 100 K…
Two types of sperm are produced in the silkworm, Bombyx mori. Nucleate eupyrene sperm is an ordinary sperm that contributes to fertilization, while anucleate apyrene sperm is considered to play important roles in assisting eupyrene sperm. At the very late stage of spermatogenesis, a phenomenon called "peristaltic sque…
