Solid State NMR Investigations of Chain Dynamics and Network Order in Model Poly(dimethylsiloxane) Elastomers

James P. Lewicki、Brian Mayer、Thomas S. Wilson 等 5 位作者2010-12-09University of North Texas Digital Library (University of North Texas)

This work is at a relatively early stage, however it has been demonstrated that we can reliably probe basic network architectures using the MQ-NMR technique. The initial results are in good agreement with what is known from standard network theory and will serve as a basis for the study of progressively increasing str…

Modeling of heterojunction photovoltaic cells based on ZnO nanowires array and earth-abundant cuprous oxide absorbers

Qilin Gu2010-12-09arXiv (Cornell University)

As a potential solution for low-cost efficient solar cells, radial junctions consisting of ZnO nanowires arrays embedded in Cu2O thin films have been theoretically modeled. Calculations have been performed to explore the geometric dependence of performance of such wire-based solar cells. By properly setting material p…

Novel NDE techniques in the power generation industry

Christopher M. Ward2010-12-09Nottingham ePrints (University of Nottingham)

The thesis presented here comprises the work undertaken for research into novel NDE techniques in the power generation industry. This has been undertaken as part of the Engineering Doctorate Scheme run by the Research Centre for Non-Destructive Evaluation (RCNDE), which aims to bridge the technological gap between uni…

2D organisation of complex organic molecules

Alexander Saywell2010-12-09Nottingham ePrints (University of Nottingham)

The self-assembly of two-dimensional molecular systems is of significant interest, offering an insight into the fundamental interactions which drive the formation of complex supramolecular structures. A careful choice of the molecular 'building blocks' for such self-assembled systems potentially allows the design and…

Probing electron-electron interactions in quantum Hall systems by scanning tunneling spectroscopy

Stefan Becker、Christoph Karrasch、T. Mashoff 等 7 位作者2010-12-09arXiv (Cornell University)

Using low-temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy applied to the Cs-induced two-dimensional electron system (2DES) on p-type InSb(110), we probe electron-electron interaction effects in the quantum Hall regime. The 2DES is decoupled from p-doped bulk states and exhibits spreading resistance within the insulating q…

Quntum chemical calculations of the spectroscopy of core electrons

Frans Asmuruf2010-12-09Nottingham ePrints (University of Nottingham)

The performance of X-ray spectroscopy techniques has been advanced by recent reviving in X-ray sources. These techniques that involve the excitation of core electrons can provide an atom specific probe of electronic structure and provide powerful analytical tools that are used in many fields of research. Theoretical c…

Thermo-responsive surfaces for enzyme free mammalian cell culture

Sabrina Dey2010-12-09Nottingham ePrints (University of Nottingham)

Embryonic stem cells are of great interest to scientists as they can differentiate into any somatic cell lineage making them excellent candidates for tissue regeneration and cell based treatment therapies. Currently, human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are cultured using feeder fibroblasts or protein substrates such as…

Hydrothermal synthesis and characterisation of α-Fe2O3 nanorods

Trevor P. Almeida2010-12-09Nottingham ePrints (University of Nottingham)

The hydrothermal synthesis (HS) of α-Fe2O3 nanorods (NRs) is investigated using a combination of complementary analytical techniques. The construction of an HS ‘process map’ as a function of temperature, time and phosphate (PO43-) concentration provides insight into the nature of intermediate β-FeOOH NR precipitation,…

Optical emission and Raman scattering in InGaN thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy

Robert Oliva Vidal2010-12-09OpenAlex

1 ABSTRACT — We present optical and structural studies of state-of-the-art InxGa1-xN thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) (31%<x<75%) on a GaN buffer layer. Photoluminescence (PL) is used to evaluate the band-gap of InxGa1-xN in terms of an empirical bowing-like formula. The obtained bowing parameter is b…
