Self-Assembled Epitaxial Nanocomposite BaTiO3−NiFe2O4 Films Prepared by Polymer-Assisted Deposition

Hongmei Luo、Hao Yang、Scott A. Baily 等 12 位作者2007-10-31Journal of the American Chemical Society

We present a new approach, cost-effective polymer-assisted deposition, to prepare self-assembled epitaxial BaTiO 3 −NiFe 2 O 4 nanocomposite films on LaAlO 3 substrates. Ferroelectric BaTiO 3 is embedded in the ferrimagnetic spinel NiFe 2 O 4 matrix. The composite shows both ferroelectric and ferrimagnetic properties.

Hierarchical Polymer–Nanotube Composites

Tirtha Chatterjee、Cynthia Mitchell、Viktor G. Hadjiev 等 4 位作者2007-10-31Advanced Materials

The hierarchical morphology of a nanocomposite with aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes results in templated growth of a semi-crystalline poly(ϵ-caprolactone) that is highly robust. The composite structure shows a significant mechanical reinforcement of the polymer.

Direct Growth of Dense, Pristine Metal Nanoplates with Well-Controlled Dimensions on Semiconductor Substrates

Yugang Sun2007-10-31Chemistry of Materials

Galvanic reactions between metal ions and semiconductor wafers provide a simple and fast approach to grow high-quality metal nanoplates with controlled sizes and thicknesses and clean surfaces. For example, the image shows an SEM image of silver nanoplates with thicknesses of ∼28 nm and edge lengths of 400–450 nm grow…

Dissociation and faceting of asymmetrical tilt grain boundaries: Molecular dynamics simulations of copper

J. Brown、Y. Mishin2007-10-31Physical Review B

Energies and atomic structures of asymmetrical $\ensuremath{\Sigma}11[110]$ tilt grain boundaries in copper have been computed using molecular dynamics with an embedded-atom potential. Two interesting effects have been found: (1) The boundaries dissociate into a low-angle and a high-angle boundary separated by a layer…

Two‐Dimensional Aggregation of Organogelators Induced by Biaxial Hydrogen‐Bonding Gives Supramolecular Nanosheets

Ronald W. Davis、Rüdiger Berger、Rudolf Zentel2007-10-31Advanced Materials

Nanosheet gel structures are formed by a class of bis-acylurea organogelator molecules, which self-organize into regular 2D sheet morphologies having planar dimensions of several micrometers and thicknesses (ca. 2 nm) corresponding to their molecular lengths. The 2D self-assembly is a consequence of unique intermolecu…

Hydrogen Storage on Carbon Doped with Platinum Nanoparticles Using Plasma Reduction

Yingwei Li、Ralph T. Yang、Changjun Liu 等 4 位作者2007-10-31Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research

The doping of metal on carbon can be significantly improved by plasma treatment in two ways: increased dispersion and stronger interactions between metal particles and the substrate, both leading directly to enhanced hydrogen spillover and, thereby, increased hydrogen storage. Thus, the hydrogen storage capacity of ac…

Recently LaNi 1– x Fe x O 3 materials have been indicated as good candidates for cathodes for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs), and LaNi 0.6 Fe 0.4 O 3 (LNF) showed the highest specific conductivity in the LaNi 1– x Fe x O 3 series. Here we report the results of our investigation on the perfo…
