Synthesis of silica-based porous monoliths with straight nanochannels using an ice-rod nanoarray as a template

Hirotomo Nishihara、Shinichiroh Iwamura、Takashi Kyotani2008-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

An attempt was made to synthesize a large-size silica porous monolith with straight and parallel nanochannels using an ice-rod nanoarray as a template. Since the previously reported ice templating methods allowed only the formation of micrometer-sized channels, special efforts were made to decrease the channel size do…

Synthesis of novel nanotubular mesoporous nickel phosphates with high performance in epoxidation

Jing Yu、Anjie Wang、Juan Tan 等 6 位作者2008-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Two novel mesoporous nickel phosphates (NiPO-1 and NiPO-2) with nanotubular structures were developed in the presence of cationic surfactant and different bases by a sol–gel method. The mesostructures of NiPO-1 and NiPO-2 are composed of nanotubes of different lengths, which are arranged by a less-ordered lamellar sym…

Unusual salt effect on the lower critical solution temperature of hyperbranched thermoresponsive polymers

Xunyong Liu、Fa Cheng、Huaji Liu 等 4 位作者2008-01-01Soft Matter

Compared with linear thermoresponsive polymers hyperbranched ones having spheroid-like structure exhibited an unusual salt effect: a non-linear LCST decrease upon increasing the concentration of various salts such as NaCl, KCl or Na2SO4 has been observed. The LCST variation of such polymers was more sensitive to the p…

Electrospinning for Bone Tissue Engineering

Pelagia‐Irene Gouma、Koushik Ramachandran2008-01-01Recent Patents on Nanotechnology

Bone tissue engineering is a field of significant research interest owing to the large number of bone defects and the limitations in the present techniques to effectively reconstitute the defects. Cell-based bone graft technique has shown promise in overcoming the limitations of the other bone graft techniques current…

Discoloration and Dissolution of Titanium and Titanium Alloys with Immersion in Peroxide- or Fluoride-containing Solutions

Tatsumi NOGUCHI、Shinji Takemoto、Masayuki Hattori 等 6 位作者2008-01-01Dental Materials Journal

This study compared differences in discoloration and dissolution in several titanium alloys with immersion in peroxide- or fluoride-containing solution. Commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) and six titanium-based alloys were used: Ti-0.15Pd, Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-7Nb-6Al, Ti-55Ni, Ti-10Cu, and Ti-20Cr. Two test solutions were p…

A photo-responsive hydrogelator having gluconamides at its peripheral branches

Yuuki Sako、Yutaka Takaguchi2008-01-01Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry

A newly designed anthracene derivative having gluconamides at its peripheral branches formed a photo-responsive hydrogel. SEM observation of the xerogel showed a network structure consisting of fibrils. Upon photoirradiation (lambda >300 nm) of the hydrogel, regioselective photodimerization of the anthracene moiety oc…

Density functional theory (DFT-D) and semi-empirical (PM3-D) methods having an added dispersion correction have been used to study stabilising carbohydrate-aromatic and amino acid-aromatic interactions. The interaction energy for three simple sugars in different conformations with benzene, all give interaction energie…

Demetalation of corrole complexes: an old dream turning into reality

Federica Mandoj、Sara Nardis、Giuseppe Pomarico 等 4 位作者2008-01-01Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines

Different strategies for the demetalation of corrole complexes have been developed, using copper complexes of corrole as model compounds. Best results were obtained using the acidic mixture CHCl 3 / H 2 SO 4 , which allowed the almost complete removal of copper ions from both meso-triaryl-, β-octaalkyl- and fully subs…

Kirsi S. Mikkonen、Madhav P. Yadav、Peter Cooke 等 6 位作者2008-01-01Åbo Akademi University Research Portal

The improvement of mechanical properties of spruce galactoglucomannan (GGM)-based films was sought by blending GGM with each of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVOH), corn arabinoxylan (cAX), and konjac glucomannan (KGM). The blend ratios were 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3 (w/w), and in addition films were made from each of the polymers alo…

Lyocell, The New Generation of Regenerated Cellulose

Éva Borbély2008-01-01OpenAlex

For the majority of the last century, commercial routes to regenerated cellulose fibres have coped with the difficulties of making a good cellulose solution by using an easy to dissolve derivative (e.g. xanthane in the case of viscose rayon) or complex (e.g. cuprammonium rayon). For the purposes of this paper, advance…
