Heavy-anion solvation of polarity fluctuations in pnictides

G. A. Sawatzky、I. S. Elfimov、J. van den Brink 等 4 位作者2009-04-01Europhysics Letters (EPL)

Once again the world of condensed matter has been surprised by the discovery of yet another class of high-temperature superconductors. The first reactions would of course be that these iron-pnictide– and iron-chalcogenide–based materials must in some way be related to the copper-oxide–based superconductors for which a…

Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion of Nuclear Waste Containers

Fraser King2009-04-01CORROSION

Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) is one of a number of threats to the long-term integrity of nuclear waste containers. As such, the potential for, and extent of, MIC must be assessed and suitable models developed for predicting the long-term behavior of the container. There are two broad approaches to asse…

Size effects of the bending stiffness of nanowires

Xian‐Fang Li、Baolin Wang、Kang Yong Lee2009-04-01Journal of Applied Physics

This paper studies the size effect in the transverse deformation of nanowires or nanoropes subjected to flexural bending. Based on the classic strain-gradient theory, a continuum approach is proposed, in which the strain energy was expressed in terms of the linear strains and strain gradients, and two additional pheno…

Glauconites from the Late Palaeocene - Early Eocene Naredi Formation, Western Kutch and their Genetic Implications

Shovan Lal Chattoraj、Santanu Banerjee、Pratul Kumar Saraswati2009-04-01Journal of the Geological Society of India

Abstract Glauconitic minerals are considered as one of the valuable input parameters in sequence stratigraphic analysis of a basin. In the present study glauconitic minerals are reported from subtidal green shale facies in the lower part of the Late Paleocene-Early Eocene Naredi Formation of western Kutch. On the basi…

Zhi‐Ling Hou、Mao‐Sheng Cao、Jie Yuan 等 5 位作者2009-04-01Journal of Applied Physics

The dielectric properties of hexagonal boron nitride are investigated in detail. The permittivities hold extremely low values ranging from room temperature to 1500 °C, however, the dielectric loss tangents increase rapidly above 1000 °C. At 1500 °C, the dielectric loss tangent is 20 times more than that at room temper…
