Abstract We synthesized a new room temperature ionic liquid, [2PA-Hmim][Pf2N], and characterized the photochromic behavior by absorption spectroscopy. [2PA-Hmim][Pf2N] was found to be a photochromic liquid where solvent itself undergoes photochromic reaction.
