Effect of Intratumoral Injection on the Biodistribution, the Therapeutic Potential of HPMA Copolymer-Based Drug Delivery Systems

Twan Lammers、Peter Peschke、Rainer Kühnlein 等 8 位作者2006-10-01Neoplasia

The direct intratumoral (i.t.) injection of anticancer agents has been evaluated extensively in the past few decades. Thus far, however, it has failed to become established as an alternative route of administration in routine clinical practice. In the present report, the impact of i.t. injection on the biodistribution…

Growth and properties of nanocrystalline diamond films

Oliver A. Williams、Miloš Nesládek2006-10-01physica status solidi (a)

Abstract The aim of this paper is to summarise recent progress in the growth of small grain‐sized Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) diamond often called nanocrystalline diamond, i.e., diamond with grains typically smaller than 500 nm. Nanocrystalline (NCD) and Ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) films are new materials…

Piezo-, pyro- and ferroelectrets: soft transducer materials for electromechanical energy conversion

Bauer2006-10-01IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation

Cellular space charge polymer electrets significantly enlarge the basis of pyro- and piezoelectric as well as ferroic materials. Since the first review of the field has been published in this journal (R. Gerhard-Multhaupt, Less can be more: Holes in polymers lead to a new paradigm of piezoelectric materials for electr…

Subunit Composition and Pigmentation of Fucoxanthin−Chlorophyll Proteins in Diatoms: Evidence for a Subunit Involved in Diadinoxanthin and Diatoxanthin Binding

Anja Beer、Kathi Gundermann、Janet Beckmann 等 4 位作者2006-10-01Biochemistry

Two different fucoxanthin-chlorophyll protein complexes (FCP) were purified from the centric diatom Cyclotella meneghiniana and characterized with regard to their polypeptide and pigment composition. Whereas the oligomeric FCPb complex is most probably composed of fcp5 gene products, the trimeric FCPa has subunits enc…

Protective Clothing for Paraplegic Men

N. Pruthi、Chanchal Pruthi、P. Sutharamn2006-10-01Journal of Human Ecology

To develop protective clothing for the paraplegic men their clothing related problems were identified by interview as well as observation method. A few paraplegic men encountered problems while wearing and removing upper garments for which help was always obtained. The problems encountered by all the respondents with…

All optical wavelength conversion via cross-phase modulation in chalcogenide glass rib waveguides

Barry Luther‐Davies、David Moss、Michael R. E. Lamont 等 6 位作者2006-10-01OpenAlex

We demonstrate all-optical wavelength conversion in AS2S3chalcogenide glass rib waveguides, with 6 ps pulses over a 10 nm wavelength range near 1550 nm. Frequency resolved optical gating (FROG) measurements show good converted pulse integrity in amplitude and phase in the frequency and time domains.

Mechanical and Structural Properties of Maltodextrin/Agarose Gel Composites

Loret Chrystel、Frith William J.、Fryer Peter J.2006-10-01Applied Rheology

When two biopolymers are mixed together, they will normally phase separate to give two distinct phases. If the biopolymers are gelled during this phase separation, for instance by reducing the temperature, one phase is trapped in this other one and an emulsion-like composite structure is obtained. In this study, we in…

Morphology Development During Microconfined Flow of Viscous Emulsions

Vananroye Anja、Van Puyvelde Peter、Moldenaers Paula2006-10-01Applied Rheology

In this contribution, a brief review is given of the dynamics of emulsions in microconfined shear flow. The interest in confined flow is triggered by the increasing importance of microfluidic applications in the processing industries. In a first part, some important aspects of confinement on single droplet dynamics ar…

Ca2+-Induced Cold-Set Gelation of Whey Protein Isolate Fibrils

Bolder Suzanne G.、Hendrickx Hanneke、Sagis Leonard M.C. 等 4 位作者2006-10-01Applied Rheology

In this paper we describe the rheological behaviour of Ca2+-induced cold-set gels of whey protein mixtures. Cold- set gels are important applications for products with a low thermal stability. In previous work [1], we determined the state diagram for whey protein mixtures that were heated for 10 h at pH 2 at 80°C. Und…

Numerical Studies of Transport Properties in Heterogeneous Food Systems

Courtois Peggy、Ettelaie Rammile、Chen Jianshe2006-10-01Applied Rheology

The current computer simulation based study aims to elucidate the complex role that the state of aggregation and morphology of the food materials plays in determining their transport behaviour. Using Brownian dynamic simulations, applied to colloidal systems, we simulate the compression of two different dense layers o…

Linear to Non-linear Rheology of Wheat Flour Dough

Ng Trevor S.K.、McKinley Gareth H.、Padmanabhan Mahesh2006-10-01Applied Rheology

We provide an overview of transient extensional rheometry techniques for wheat flour doughs in which the deformation and material response is well defined. The behavior of a range of model doughs was explored with a Filament Stretching Extensional Rheometer (FISER). The measurements were also compared to data obtained…

A facile means for obtaining submicrometer carbon fibers with a nanoporous structure is presented. A mixture of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and a copolymer of acrylonitrile and methyl methacrylate (poly(AN-co-MMA)) in dimethylformamide was electrospun into submicrometer fibers with a microphase-separated structure. Existence of minimizers for a finite-strain micromorphic elastic solid

Patrizio Neff2006-10-01Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Section A Mathematics

We investigate geometrically exact generalized continua of micromorphic type in the sense of Eringen. The two-field problem for the macrodeformation φ and the affine microdeformation P ̄ ∈ GL + (3, R) in the quasistatic, conservative load case is investigated in a variational form. Depending on material constants, two…
