Z. Wang、C. K. Chiang、T.J. Chuang1997-01-01Journal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology

An optimization procedure for designing a ceramic tensile creep specimen to minimize stress concentration is carried out using a finite element method. The effect of pin loading and the specimen geometry are considered in the stress distribution calculations. A growing contact zone between the pin and the specimen has…

Thiophene-fused DCNQI Derivatives: Their Copper Iodide Complexes as a New Family of Molecular Conductors

Kazuyuki Takahashi、Yasuhiro Mazaki、Keiji Kobayashi1997-01-01Phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon and the related elements

Organic sulfur compounds have played important roles in developing new organic materials. Recently we have reported that thiophene-fused DCNQI (DTQl)1 forms a new family of highly conducting CuI complex.1 However, all our attempts to grow a single crystal suitable for an X-ray analysis have been unsuccessful. The pres…

Relationship between Corrosion Behavior of Iron in Methanol-Water Solutions and Physicochemical Characteristics of the Solutions

Keizo Hosoya、Katsuhisa Sugimoto1997-01-01Journal of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials

Corrosion behavior of iron in 0.1 kmol·m−3 LiClO4 methanol-water solutions in the range of water contents up to 100% was investigated by the immersion corrosion test, polarization curve and electrode impedance measurement. The effect of water content on the corrosion rate of iron shows a maximum around the water conte…

Oxidation Resistance of Silicon Tetra Boride Powder

Jun-ichi MATSUSHITA、Yutaka Sawada1997-01-01Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan

The oxidation of silicon boride (SiB4) powder at high temperatures was investigated in order to determine the possibility of its high-temperature utility. SiB4 powder with an average particle size of about 10μm was used in this experiment. The sample oxidized at 200 to 1100°C for 5min to 50h in air; the weight changes…

Akira Taguchi、Akio Miyamoto、Yusuke Mori 等 10 位作者1997-01-01Advanced Solid-State Lasers

The effects of the moisture on CLBO have been investigated. CLBO hydrated at high humidity condition, resulting in 5B2O3·Cs2O·8H2O. The surface hydration seems to induce the cracking and the refractive index change in CLBO. The thermal annealing is effective to restore the changed index.

The Oscillations of Crystal Growth Rates at their Formation in the Regime of free Convection of a Solution; Statistical Investigation

Ε. Б. Трейвус1997-01-01Crystal Research and Technology

Abstract The growth rate oscillations of {10 1 ) NaNO 3 crystal face have been measured at certain range of supersaturation of a water solution. It has been found, that root‐mean‐square amplitude of the oscillations of rates increases linearly with the growth of the mean growth rate. The supposition has been made that…
