Analysis of Additive Binary Valued Cellular Automata Using Roots of Unity

Burt Voorhees2009-11-26AUSpace (Athabasca University)

The paper was presented on Oct. 10 and will be published in a special issue of Journal of Cellular Automata. There was some useful discussion following on the presentation, including amazement that I had computed some of the results by hand rather than using a computer.

Two-dimensional electron gases in heterostructures

Thomas Ihn2009-11-26Oxford University Press eBooks

This chapter uses a case study of two-dimensional electron gases in heterostructures to illustrate the theoretical concepts put forward in Chapters 7 and 8. The electrostatics and the field effect in these structures are worked out, and the capacitance between the electron gas and a top-gate is determined. Quantum mec…

Chien Chih Lin、Chi Chih Ho、Chun Ching Chang 等 4 位作者2009-11-26OpenAlex

A synthetic approach for the fabrications of Janus and Saturn colloids was demonstrated by the sequential embedment and surface modification of silica colloids. Electrospinning of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(4-vinyl pyridine) (P4VP) blends produced polymer fibers with high specific surfaces for the collo…

Nano-porous pottery using calcined waste sediment from tap water production as an additive

Supin Sangsuk、Srichalai Khunthon、Siriphan Nilpairach2009-11-26Waste Management & Research The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy

A suspension of sediment from a lagoon in a tap water production plant was collected for this experiment. The suspension was spray dried and calcined at 700 °C for 1 h. After calcining, 30 wt.% of the sediment were mixed with pottery clay. Samples with and without calcined sediment were sintered at 900, 1000 and 1100…

DOMESTIC FURNITURE

James Dawson2009-11-26Cambridge University Press eBooks

E very woman carries on her back, outside her rug, a basket made of a tough kind of rush, occasionally ornamented with stitches of various kinds. They also carry in the same way a bag formed of the tough inner bark of the acacia tree. Failing to procure this bark, which is the best for the purpose, they use the inner…

Thermal atomic layer deposition and oxidation of TiN monitored by in-situ spectroscopic ellipsometry

Hao Van Bui、Antonius A. I. Aarnink、Alexey Y. Kovalgin 等 5 位作者2009-11-26OpenAlex

Thin TiN films have many important applications in Integrated Circuit (IC) technology. In spite of its chemical inertness, it is reported that TiN can be oxidized when exposed to oxidants (O2, H2O, etc.). To avoid an undesired oxidation of the metal-nitride layers, a study on this process is necessary. In this work, w…

Permeability imaging in adult neoplasia

Timothy P. L. Roberts、Dmitry Khrichenko、Arastoo Vossough2009-11-26Cambridge University Press eBooks

Introduction Dynamic imaging, or tracking, of a “bolus” of intravascularly administered tracer can be interpreted to yield information both from the “first pass,” relating primarily to tissue perfusion, or from later “pseudo steady-state” phases, relating to transendothelial transport of the tracer between intravascul…

Effet des films liquides en évaporation

Fabien Chauvet2009-11-26HAL (Le Centre pour la Communication Scientifique Directe)

In connection with the study of the phenomenon of drying, this work focuses on the study of slow evaporation of a liquid confined in a capillary of square cross section. In such a capillary, if the liquid wetting contact angle is low enough, liquid films are trapped by capillary forces along the capillary inside corne…
