Assessment of Segregation Potential of Powder Blends

Keyur Shah、Sherif I.F. Badawy、Marta M. Szemraj 等 5 位作者2007-01-01Pharmaceutical Development and Technology

Pharmaceutical blends consist of several components each with its own unique characteristics, with different size, shape, density, and particle-particle interactions. With so many degrees of complexity, prediction of segregation behavior becomes intractable. The objective of this study was to develop a segregation tes…

Wetting of hydrophobic polymer surfaces commonly employed in electronic coatings and their interaction with surfactant-laden liquids and aqueous polymer solutions are analyzed using a contact angle hysteresis (CAH) approach developed by Chibowski and co-workers. In addition, a number of low surface tension acrylic mon…

Nanostructured assemblies from nucleotide-based amphiphiles

Nathalie Campins、Philippe Dieudonné、Mark W. Grinstaff 等 4 位作者2007-01-01New Journal of Chemistry

A synthetic route to 3′-O-alkyl nucleotides is described that provides easy access to a series of nucleotide-based amphiphiles. Physicochemical experiments demonstrate that these nucleotide amphiphiles possess different aggregating properties compared to both their non-nucleotide analogues and simple nucleotides. The…

Biomimetic strategies to control mineral nucleation include the development of self-assembled monolayers with appropriate structural properties. We present a bis-urea based surfactant with variable structural adaptability, which induces habit modification in calcite crystals under optimal conditions. In situ surface-s…

Micro-capillary system coupled to ICP-MS as a novel technique for investigation of micro-corrosion processes

Nadzeya Homazava、Andrea Ulrich、Matthias Trottmann 等 4 位作者2007-01-01Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry

Detailed information on corrosion processes provides the key to effective prediction and minimization of corrosion damage. The initiation stage of material decomposition plays a special role, since the corrosion starts mainly on weakest locations, such as surface defects, grain boundaries, segregations or inclusions.…

Takayuki Sugimoto、Yuhshi Aoki、Eiki Niwa 等 5 位作者2007-01-01Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan

In order to obtain materials with a tailored thermal expansion, in particular zero-thermal-expansion between -50~100°C, the possibility of preparation, thermal expansion behavior and phase transition of Al2-xMx(WO4)3 (M: Y, Ga and Sc) have been examined. Y was not substituted for the Al site in Al2(WO4)3. Al2-xGax(WO4…

Manganese Effects on Repassivation Kinetics and SCC Susceptibility of High Mn–N Austenitic Stainless Steel Alloys

Ihsan‐ul‐Haq Toor、Kyung Jin Park、HyukSang Kwon2007-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

Effects of Mn on the localized corrosion, repassivation kinetics, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of high Mn–N stainless steels (SSs) were examined in chloride solutions and compared with those of type 304 SS. The resistance to pitting corrosion of high Mn–N SSs decreased with an increase in Mn content at the expe…

Structural dynamic modification of vibrating systems

Milan Naď2007-01-01DOAJ (DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals)

Vibration and acoustic requirements are becoming increasingly important in the design of mechanical\nstructures. The need to vary the structural behaviour to solve noise and vibration problems occurs at design or\nprototype stage, giving rise to the so-called structural modification problem. Structural dynam…

Goal-oriented Atomistic-Continuum Adaptivity for the Quasicontinuum Approximation

Marcel Arndt、Mitchell Luskin2007-01-01International Journal for Multiscale Computational Engineering

We give a goal-oriented a posteriori error estimator for the atomistic-continuum modeling error in the quasicontinuum method, and we use this estimator to design an adaptive algorithm to compute a quantity of interest to a given tolerance by using a nearly minimal number of atomistic degrees of freedom. We present com…
