The ceramic composites containing 1-25 vol% BaTiO3 in a ferrite matrix phase of Ni0.3Zn0.7Fe2O4 were fabricated by sintering at 1250°C in air. The sintered composites indicated a steep increase in dielectric permittivity in a small BaTiO3 ratio up to 5 vol%. In a limited BaTiO3 ratio of 3-15 vol%, a reaction between N…

Chloride-laden and carbonated environments were selected for the investigation of corrosion acceleration due to galvanic corrosion of normal rebars in contact with corrosion-resistant Cr-bearing rebars embedded in concrete. Concrete specimens simulating these environments were fabricated using normal steel (SD345) reb…

Nanocrystalline powder of the single phase nickel‐zinc ferrite have been prepared by a sol‐gel auto‐combustion process. The nitrate‐citrate gels were prepared from metal nitrates and citric acid solutions with various molar ratios of the metal nitrates to citric acid. The results showed that the nitrate citrate gels e…

In a previous work, the measurement of radiative vacancy transfer probabilities from the K shell to the L sub‐shells were measured, when rare earth elements were irradiated with 3 MeV–4 MeV protons. It was found that those probabilities did not depend on the ion energy and there was a close agreement with theoretical…

Displacement cascades in zirconia have been studied using classical molecular dynamics simulations. Polycrystalline zirconia with nano‐meter grains were created using Voronoi polyhedra construction and studied in comparison with single crystalline zirconia. The results show that displacement cascades with similar kine…

Parametric X‐rays (PXR) are produced from the interaction of relativistic electrons with the periodic structure of crystal materials. Smooth X‐ray energy tunability is achieved by rotating the crystal with respects to the electron beam direction. Experiments at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 60‐MeV LINAC produce…

The austenite of the Hadfield type manganese steels (1.0–1.4% C; 12–14% Mn), even though able to be hardened by impact, explosion, etc., is very ductile, tough and deformable, so that the industrial parts made with this material often suffer important geometric deformations during service. To minimize this problem, it…
