Relationship between Bulk‐Modulus Temperature Dependence and Thermal Expansivity

Hassel Ledbetter1994-01-01physica status solidi (b)

Abstract The relationship between two anharmonic physical properties is considered: the bulk‐modulus temperature dependence (1/ B ) (∂ B /∂ T ) and the thermal expansivity (1/ V ) (∂ V /∂ T ). For the first, Varshni's relationship is used, which derives from an Einstein‐oscillator model of crystals. For the second, a…

Natural Fibers for Plastic Reinforcement

A. J. Bolton1994-01-01Materials Technology

Plant fibers have a strength per unit weight similar to those of man-made fibers. Although plant fibers are successfully used in a limited number of composite products at the moment, the advantages of plant fibers, and the diverse fiber properties provided by nature, are such that plant fibers are likely to become mor…

Improved adhesion between plasma-treated polyimide film and evaporated copper

N. Inagaki、S. Tasaka、K. Hibi1994-01-01Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology

The surface of polyimide film, Kapton® H, was modified with Ar, N2, NO, NO2, O2, CO, and CO2 plasmas to improve its adhesion to evaporated copper. The plasma treatments led to bond scission of the imide groups in the Kapton film to form carboxyl and secondary amide groups, and, as a result, the surface of the Kapton f…

Wicking of Spin Finishes and Related Liquids into Continuous Filament Yarns

Y. K. Kamath、S.B. Hornby、H.‐D. Weigmann 等 4 位作者1994-01-01Textile Research Journal

Using a simple electronic method for measuring wicking times, we have shown that horizontal wicking of liquids into continuous filament yarns follows the Lucas-Wash burn equation. We have investigated the effects of the liquid properties, viscosity, and surface tension, and of the liquid-solid interaction parameter co…

Large dendrimeric organoplatinum complexes

Sudhir Achar、Richard J. Puddephatt1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

New dendrimeric organoplatinum complexes have been prepared by oxidative addition of precursors containing a dimethylplatinum(II) centre to 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(bromomethyl)benzene; the products include a Pt28 complex which is believed to be the largest reported transition-metal dendrimer.

Derivation of a global chemical kinetic mechanism for methane ignition and combustion

Julien Revel、JC Boettner、Michel Cathonnet 等 4 位作者1994-01-01Journal de Chimie Physique

A new method for the reduction of chemical kinetic detailed mechanisms is presented. It is based on atomic fluxes calculations and reaction pathways analyses. The method was applied to a CH4/O2/Nx2 comprehensive combustion mechanism, including NOx reactions, previously validated for several types of experiments (flow…

Michael J. Cook、Jim McMurdo、David A. Miles 等 8 位作者1994-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

The monolayer and LB film-forming properties of 20 structurally related amphiphilic octa-substituted phthalocyanine derivatives have been assessed. The molecular packing within examples of the films has been probed by visible-region spectroscopy and low-angle X-ray diffraction methods. Among derivatives where the alip…

Physicochemical and catalytic properties of ployaniline protonated with 12-molybdophosphoric acid

Magdalena Hasik、Adam Proń、J. Poźniczek 等 7 位作者1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions

Using acid–base-type doping of polyaniline with H3PMo12O40, two series of catalyst samples were prepared. In series Sl the doping and polymerization were carried out simultaneously, leading to a uniform distribution of the dopant over the whole volume of the polymer. In series SII the doping was achieved by protonatio…
