市販の水性6種類及び油性2種類の木材保護塗料で塗装されたスギ心材を, 南向き傾斜45度の条件で24ヶ月間の屋外暴露試験に供し, 塗装面の変色, 表面欠陥率, 撥水度の変化を評価した。また, 木目の隠ぺいの程度に関する因子として, 塗装面の早・晩材のコントラストを評価し, 耐候性能との関係を考察した。水性塗料の耐候性能は, 製品間で大きく異なった。24ヶ月後の色差 (ΔE *ab) は, 水性塗料では10~50, 油性塗料では10~20の範囲に分布した。色差の小さい水性塗料は, 表面欠陥率でも油性と同様に比較的低い値を示した。撥水度は, 油性塗料では18ヶ月後まで80%を上回ったが, 水性塗料の多くはそれまでに80%を下回った。変色…
