Gold Nanorod-Seeded Growth of Silver Nanostructures: From Homogeneous Coating to Anisotropic Coating

Yanjuan Xiang、Xiaochun Wu、Dongfang Liu 等 9 位作者2008-02-23Langmuir

Single crystalline gold nanorods (Au NRs) dominated by {110} side facets were employed as seeds to tailor the deposition of Ag. Apart from homogeneous coating, anisotropic coating of Ag was observed and resulted in an orange slice-like shape for the Au@Ag nanocrystal. Different growth rates for the {110} side facets w…

Different types of Binary Nanoparticle Superlattices (BNSLs) have been self-assembled from monodisperse 8.7 nm CdSe and 5.5 nm Au nanocrystals. Fluorescence spectroscopy studies of AlB 2 -type BNSL of CdSe and Au nanocrystals revealed considerably decreased fluorescence and a shortened fluorescence lifetime of the CdS…

One unit-cell seed layer induced epitaxial growth of heavily nitrogen doped anatase TiO 2 films

Tong Lai Chen、Yasushi Hirose、Taro Hitosugi 等 4 位作者2008-02-22Journal of Physics D Applied Physics

We present a novel way to obtain heavily nitrogen doped anatase TiO2 films by using a solid-state nitrogen source. Epitaxial growth of the films was realized by introducing one unit-cell seed layer, which was indicated by reflection high-energy electron diffraction as intensity oscillation. Results of x-ray diffractio…

Growth of Gold Fractal Nanostructures by Electrochemical Deposition in Organic Electrolytes: Morphologies and Their Transitions

Jia Liu、Yunyi Fu、Ao Guo 等 6 位作者2008-02-22The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

We have studied the growth of gold fractal nanostructures by a novel electrochemical deposition (ECD) method. In our ECD process, instead of an aqueous solution of metallic salt, we use an organic solution (such as N, N -dimethylformamide (DMF) or acetonitrile) as the electrolyte and integrate the microscale ECD syste…

Pore-Free 12CaO·7Al2O3 Single-Crystal Growth by Melt State Control using the Floating Zone Method

Seok Gyu Yoon、Sung Wng Kim、Masahiro Hirano 等 5 位作者2008-02-22Crystal Growth & Design

Pore-free ⟨110⟩ oriented 12CaO·7Al 2 O 3 (C12A7) single crystals with sizes up to 7 mm (Phi) × 40 mm are grown by controlling the melt states in a floating zone (Fz) method. Control is achieved by increasing the melt temperature to ∼1495 °C and using a high-density C12A7 polycrystalline feed rod, which reduces oxygen…

Thermodynamic Investigation of the Adsorption of Amides on Graphite from Their Liquids and Binary Mixtures

Thomas Arnold、Stuart M. Clarke2008-02-22Langmuir

We report a thermodynamic investigation of the adsorption of saturated and unsaturated (cis- and trans-) alkyl amides onto the surface of graphite from their pure liquids and from binary mixtures. We identify the formation of solid monolayers of the amides at temperatures when the bulk materials are liquid. The extent…

Tebogo M. Sakuneka、Arno de Klerk、Reinier J. J. Nel 等 4 位作者2008-02-22Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research

The oligomerization of propene, as well as the alkylation of benzene and toluene with propene, was evaluated at 160−240 °C, 3.8 MPa, and aromatic to olefin ratios of 1:6 to 6:1 using solid phosphoric acid (SPA) as a catalyst. It was found that steric effects were more important than electronic effects in determining a…

Synthesis and characterization of fluorescently labeled core cross‐linked star polymers

M. Spiniello、Anton Blencowe、Greg G. Qiao2008-02-22Journal of Polymer Science Part A Polymer Chemistry

Abstract A series of fluorescently labeled core cross‐linked star (CCS) polymers were synthesized via the “arm‐first” approach, employing atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) to control the resulting architecture. The initiator p‐toluenesulfonyl chloride (TsCl) was used to synthesize “living” poly(methyl methac…
