Effects of Surface Termination on Directional Emission from Photonic Crystal Waveguides

K. B. Chung2008-03-25Journal of the Optical Society of Korea

We numerically investigate by the finite-difference time-domain method the effects of surface termination on directional emission exiting a photonic crystal waveguide. The directed power and far-field beam profile for the original proposal [E. Moreno et al., Phys. Rev. B 69, 121402 (2004)] and its enhancement [S. K. M…

Stability Effect In Photoconducting Studies of Some Chemically Deposited CdS, (Cd-Pb)S and (Cd-Zn)S Films

Shashi Bhushan、Tandesh Chandra2008-03-25TURKISH JOURNAL OF PHYSICS

Stability effects in photoconductivity (PC) rise and decay have been studied over a period of 2 years in thin films of (Cd-Pb)S:LiF, La/Pr and (Cd-Zn)S: LiF,La/Pr and have been found quite stable; however, those of CdS are not that stable. Results of annealing effect are also included, which present more stable values…

W. Sturn、R. Sanwald、Gerhard Ehninger2008-03-25DMW - Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift

A 66-year-old woman with ovarian cancer which had metastasized was receiving chemotherapy with cisplatin and cyclophosphamide while undergoing haemodialysis for chronic renal failure. Cisplatin concentration in plasma was measured by flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy. After infusion of 40 mg cisplatin/m2 body-s…

Selective etching of n-type silicon in pn junction structure in hydrofluoric acid and its application in silicon nanowire fabrication

Huiquan Wang、Zhonghe Jin、Yangming Zheng 等 6 位作者2008-03-25Nanotechnology

Boron is selectively implanted on the surface of an n-type silicon wafer to form a p-type area surrounded by an n-type area. The wafer is then put into a buffered oxide etch solution. It is found that the n-type area can be selectively etched without illumination, with an etching rate lower than 1 nm min(-1), while th…

Ultrahigh Vacuum Surface Studies of the Electrochemical Atomic Layer Deposition of Indium Telluride on n-Type GaAs(100)

Jay Y. Kim、John L. Stickney2008-03-25The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The electrodeposition of tellurium (Te) and indium (In) atomic layers on n-type GaAs(100) substrates is described. As-received n-GaAs(100) substrates were treated in 10% HF and ultraviolet (UV) ozone cleaned. The substrates were then transferred to an ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) chamber and cleaned by Ar + ion bombardment.…

A Solid-state 17O NMR Study of β-Glycine: High Sensitivity of 17O NMR Parameters to Hydrogen-bonding Interactions

Kazuhiko Yamada、Tadashi Shimizu、Toshio Yamazaki 等 4 位作者2008-03-25Chemistry Letters

Abstract We will present a solid-state 17O NMR study of β-glycine and demonstrate that 17O NMR parameters are highly sensitive to the local molecular structures, in particular, hydrogen-bond environments, indicating that, potentially, solid-state 17O NMR is a powerful tool for investigating the polymorphs of drugs.

Jiubin Tan、Mingguang Shan、Chenguang Zhao 等 4 位作者2008-03-25Applied Optics

Diffractive microlens arrays with continuous relief are designed, fabricated, and characterized by using Fermat's principle to create an array of spots on the photoresist-coated surface of a substrate for parallel laser direct writing. Experimental results indicate that a diffraction efficiency of 71.4% and a spot siz…

Fabrication of photonic waveguides in sulfide chalcogenide glasses by selective wet-etching

Lei Su、Christopher J. Rowlands、T.H. Lee 等 4 位作者2008-03-25Electronics Letters

A selective wet-etching method for micro-fabricating As2S3 glass ridge waveguides, using CS2 solution with iodine as an oxidising reactant, has been developed. The proposed method is based on photo-induced changes in chalcogenide glasses, and therefore can be free of photomasks and photoresists. The optical properties…
