Relationship Between Hairiness and the Twisting Principles of Solospun and Ring Spun Yarns

Longdi Cheng、Peihua Fu、YU Xiu-ye2004-09-01Textile Research Journal

In this paper, the twisting principles of Solospun and ring spinning are compared and analyzed. A geometric model is used to analyze the structure of Solospun yarns in order to determine why they are less hairy than ring spun yarns. Finally, a series of tests proves the conclusions.

Thermal and transport properties of the Heusler-type compounds Fe2−xTi1+xSn

C. S. Lue、Y. K. Kuo2004-09-01Journal of Applied Physics

We have studied the thermoelectric properties of the stoichiometric and off-stoichiometric Heusler compounds Fe2−xTi1+xSn between 10K and 400K. It is found that the electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient are very sensitive to the off-stoichiometry. Seebeck coefficient (S) measurements indicate that all studied…

Effect of Nickel Content on the Corrosion and Passivation of Copper-Nickel Alloys in Sodium Sulfate Solutions

Khaled M. Ismail、Ahlam M. Fathi、Waheed A. Badawy2004-09-01CORROSION

The effect of Ni content on the corrosion and passivation behaviors of copper-nickel alloys with different Cu to Ni ratios was investigated in neutral sulfate solutions. The influence of working conditions (e.g., immersion time, sulfate ions concentration, and temperature) on the electrochemical behavior of the differ…

Thin films able to sustain an efficient photoreduction of Ag + ions with 350 nm photons in air were prepared by crosslinking poly(vinyl alcohol) with glutaraldehyde in the presence of poly(acrylic acid). Standard colloid techniques served as screening methods for the selection of polymer compositions yielding films wi…

A Continuum Theory That Couples Creep and Self-Diffusion

Zhigang Suo2004-09-01Journal of Applied Mechanics

In a single-component material, a chemical potential gradient or a wind force drives self-diffusion. If the self-diffusion flux has a divergence, the material deforms. We formulate a continuum theory to be consistent with this kinematic constraint. When the diffusion flux is divergence-free, the theory decouples into…

Polymer/Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube Films Assembled via Donor−Acceptor Interactions and Their Use as Scaffolds for Silica Deposition

Jason H. Rouse、Peter T. Lillehei、Joel Sanderson 等 4 位作者2004-09-01Chemistry of Materials

A method of stepwise assembling thin polymer/single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) films using donor−acceptor interactions is demonstrated. When the affinity that amine groups have for nanotubes were utilized, films were formed by the sequential adsorption of polyethylenimine and polyallylamine followed by SWCNTs onto…
