We have investigated partial discharge (PD) degradation for conventional polyamide-6. without nanoscale fillers (nanofillers) and polyamide-6 nanocomposites with 2 weight (wt) %, 4 wt% and 5 wt% addition. Such materials were subjected to partial discharge under the IEC (b) electrode configuration for evaluation. Compa…

Congruency-Based Hysteresis Models for Transient Simulation

Sergey E. Zirka、Yuriy I. Moroz、P. Marketos 等 4 位作者2004-03-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

We describe a history-dependent (non-Preisach) hysteresis model based on direct use of experimental first-order reversal curves. We propose that any second or higher order reversal curve can be constructed by using internal segments of the first-order reversal curves, and show that particular transplants (segments wit…

Birefringent omnidirectional reflector

Kate Kaminska、Kevin Robbie2004-03-01Applied Optics

Anisotropic optical coatings offer unique polarizing properties, unmatched by conventional isotropic devices. Here we demonstrate the fabrication of a birefringent omnidirectional reflector, a type of photonic crystal, which exhibits complete reflection of radiation at 1.1 microm for all incidence angles and polarizat…

High Oxide Ion Conductivity in Mg-Doped La10Si6O27 with Apatite-type Structure

Hideki Yoshioka2004-03-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract Structure and ionic conductivity of Mg-doped La10Si6O27 was investigated on dense ceramic samples prepared from sol–gel derived powders using two step sintering process. The conductivity was increased by the doping (from 22 to 30–39 mS cm−1 at 800 °C) because of expansion of the apatite lattice.

How Does Minor Renal Dysfunction Influence Cardiovascular Risk and the Management of Cardiovascular Disease?

Tobias Pinkau、Karl F. Hilgers、Roland Veelken 等 4 位作者2004-03-01Journal of the American Society of Nephrology

This review focuses on the association between mild renal insufficiency (stage 2 and 3 of chronic kidney disease) and cardiovascular disease and discusses therapeutic options. Although the association of chronic renal insufficiency and cardiovascular risk was first shown in patients with end-stage renal disease, even…

Applying Continuum Design Sensitivity Analysis Combined With Standard EM Software to Shape Optimization in Magnetostatic Problems

D.-H. Kim、K.S. Ship、J.K. Sykulski2004-03-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

This paper explores the physical meaning of pseudosources of an adjoint system in a continuum design sensitivity analysis (CDSA) when applied to shape optimization in magnetostatics. An efficient and practical way to compute the required gradient information with standard electromagnetic (EM) software packages is sugg…

Dual Topology of the Escherichia coli TatA Protein

Kamila Gouffi、Fabien Gérard、Claire‐Lise Santini 等 4 位作者2004-03-01Journal of Biological Chemistry

The Escherichia coli Tat system has unusual capacity of translocating folded proteins across the cytoplasmic membrane. The TatA protein is the most abundant known Tat component and consists of a transmembrane segment followed by an amphipathic helix and a hydrophilic C terminus. To study the operation mechanism of the…

Liquid-Metal Embrittlement of Type 316L Stainless Steel by Gallium as Measured by Elastic-Plastic Fracture Mechanics

D. G. Kolman、Rene Chavarria2004-03-01CORROSION

In order to bound failure of austenitic stainless steel storage containers housing Ga-containing compounds, the liquid-metal embrittlement of Type 316L (UNS S31603) stainless steel (SS) by Ga was investigated. Type 316L SS compact tension specimens were exposed to liquid Ga using a depassivation technique to wet the s…

Kinetics and mechanism of esterification of epoxy resin in presence of triphenylphosphine

Neelam Pal、Akanksha Srivastava、J. S. P.2004-03-01International Journal of Chemical Kinetics

Abstract The kinetics of esterification of bisphenol‐A based epoxy resin with acrylic acid in presence of triphenylphosphine has been studied. The reaction exhibits a first‐order rate dependence with respect to [Epoxy] and [Catalyst]. A first‐order dependence of rate with respect to [Acid] has been observed during a p…

Abstract— A photon‐mode full‐color rewritable image has been demonstrated. Three types of photochromic fulgides having yellow, magenta, and cyan color were used as rewritable dyes. Photochromic fulgides were mixed and coated on a white polyethylene terephthalate film. Upon irradiation with three (red, green, and blue)…
