Youichi Takizawa、T. Kimura、Kentarou Higuchi

The swelling behavior of a softening coal particle during carbonization was numerically analyzed. In this study, since the swelling of a coal particle was caused by the growth of bubbles in the coal particle, the bubble growth due to the inflow of volatile matters to the bubbles was calculated involving nucleation, co…

Progress of study on pressure comfort of clothing

Weiyuan Zhang2006-01-01Textile Research Journal

Clothing comfort involves three potential independent factors,i.e.,thermal moisture comfort, tactile comfort and pressure comfort.Being a component of the entire comfort of clothing, pressure comfort plays a positive effect. From the medicinal viewpoint,it is obvious that excessive clothing pressure will be harmful to h…

A Block Diagram Approach to Reference Frame Transformation of Converter Dynamic Models

Charles Sao、Peter W. Lehn2006-01-01OpenAlex

This paper proposes a reference frame transformation method which applies appropriate rotational operators to the block diagram representation of a converter space vector model to transform it from one reference frame to another. Unlike reference frame transformation using matrices, it can easily be applied to convert…

Formation of a Crack-Free and Debonding-Resistant Boron-Doped Diamond Thin Film on Titanium Using a Dual-Coating Strategy

Michael A. Lowe、Anne E. Fischer、Greg M. Swain2006-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

Producing continuous, conductive diamond film on titanium is critical to using this metal for electrochemical electrodes, bipolar current collector plates in fuel cells, and prosthetic implants. A common problem with coating polycrystalline diamond on titanium is the stress-cracking that results from the difference of…

Electron Scattering Effect in Surface Electron Spectroscopies

Shigeo Tanuma2006-01-01Hyomen Kagaku

This article describes the inelastic scattering effect in surface electron spectroscopies such as XPS and AES. In order to improve the accuracy of quantitative surface analysis, it is very important to describe the attenuation rate of the electron signal due to inelastic scattering events in a solid. For this, “attenu…

SERS and infrared reflection‐absorption spectroscopy of NO on cold‐deposited Cu

Mark Lust、Annemarie Pucci、A. Otto2006-01-01Journal of Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) of NO on cold‐deposited Cu yields only bands of the dissociation products of NO, but not the stretching bands of NO. In contrast, infrared reflection‐absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) on similarly prepared samples displays strong NO stretching bands and only a very wea…

Effect of membrane mimicking environment on the conformation of a pore‐forming (xSxG)6peptide

Jyothi Thundimadathil、Roger W. Roeske、Lili Guo2006-01-01Biopolymers

The mechanism of membrane interaction by beta-sheet peptides is important to understand fundamental principles of folding of beta-barrel proteins and various beta-amyloid proteins. Here, we examined the conformational characteristics of a porin-like channel forming (xSxG)(6) peptide in solution and membrane-mimicking…

This investigation describes the synthesis and formation of the second phase of high-density arrays of vertically aligned ZnO:Ga nanowires on ZnO/glass substrates at 600°C. As the concentration of the Ga is increased, the nanowire became shorter without any change in its diameter. The formation of the second phase, Zn…

Monte Carlo simulations were performed for hard spheres (HSs) under gravity. The gravity was increased stepwise. HSs were placed between the bottom and the top hard walls. For g*≥0.9, we observed that a ‘sediment’ was comprised of two crystalline and one fluid regions. Here, g*is defined by g*=mgσ/kBT with m being the…
