Abstract Ionomeric polyblends of the zinc salt of maleated EPDM rubber (Zn‐mEPDM) and the zinc salt of maleated polypropylene (Zn‐mPP) in the composition range from 90/10 to 60/40 wt% behave as ionic thermoplastic elastomers (ITPE), which show synergism in physical properties. The ionomeric polyblend shows higher phys…
A time-domain analysis of quasi-static magnetic fields around nonperfectly conductive shields is performed by a numerical procedure based on the nodal-based finite element method (FEM). Eliminating the shield region from the computational domain, a new boundary is generated where impedance network boundary conditions…
The peroxo‐oxalate complexation method is a method that can be used for the preparation of doped barium titanate. In this paper we focus on BaTi 0.91 Zr 0.09 O 3 , which can be used for discharge capacitors in lamp starters. The preparation method described here is based on the complexation and subsequent precipitatio…
Abstract An unprecedented layered (2-D) honeycomb supramolecular structure comprised of μ4-σ-dimerized 7,7,8,8-tetracyano-p-quinodimethane dianion bridging four S = 2 substituted Mn(III)porphyrins as demonstrated with meso-tetrakis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)porphyrinato has been structural characterized.
Optically isotropic cubic mesophases, which are commonly exhibited by lyotropic materials, have been observed in a few thermotropic liquid crystalline systems also. Although the first thermotropic cubic mesophase was reported about 40 years ago, its existence in diverse systems is only a recent finding. Moreover, the…
The resonance Raman spectra of a mixed-valence copper dimer [Cu2(L)]3+ encapsulated by the ligand L = N(CH2CH2N(H)CH2CH2N(H)CH2CH2)3N are reported. Copper isotope data (63/65Cu) of solution spectra of [Cu2(L)]3+ allow identification of vibrational bands at 289 and 172 cm-1 as predominately Cu−Cu stretching and Cu−Cu−N…
With the predominance of XAFS analysis for structural information now using theoretical standards such as FEF~ The motivation for this work is threefold. First, the library is intended to reduce the need to collect XAFS data on model compounds, which is still useful in assessing the reliability of theoretical XAFS sta…
We demonstrate an innovative method for fabrication of high-spatial-frequency grating structures. This technique makes use of the near-field diffraction patterns from computer-generated phase holograms for lithographic fabrication of grating structures with periods that are one half that of the phase hologram mask. Li…
This article discusses the influence of two natural terpene resins (NTR), poly(α-pinene) (PαP A115) and poly(d-limonene) (PL C115), on morphology, miscibility, thermal, and dynamic-mechanical properties of their blends with isotactic polypropylene (iPP). The NTR have interesting physical and chemical properties, and t…
Abstract The trigonal structure of a new member of the eudialyte group was established from X-ray single-crystal diffraction, λ (Mo K α ) = 0.71073 Å; space group R 3 m ; a = 14.153(9) Å, c = 60.72(5) Å, V = 10546.1 Å 3 ; M = 3050; D x = 2.88 g/cm 3 ; Z = 3; μ = 28cm −1 ; R ( hkl ) = 0.068 for 3402 reflections. Due to…
Equilibrium constants determined from low molecular weight mixtures are used to predict the phase behavior of analogous polymer blends. Due consideration is given to intramolecular screening and functional group accessibility, factors that are a direct consequence of chain connectivity.
Two kinds of magnetization in isotropic permanent magnets are introduced and analyzed by FEM: one is a radial magnetization type, the other is a parabolic one. From the results of FEA, it is found that the permanent magnet with parabolic magnetization has low leakage flux and high interior surface flux density despite…
The microstructure and chemistry of a functionally gradient Ti-doped diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating prepared by a closed field unbalanced magnetron sputtering system (CFUBMS) on a type 304 stainless steel was analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), and scanning…
Using the extended Jones calculus for oblique incidence, we have succeeded in representing light propagation through birefringent media on the Poincaré sphere for arbitrary propagation directions. The situation is far more complicated than for the case of perpendicular transmission. To achieve a simple representation…
Nano-sized PbTiO3 powders have been successfully synthesized using the high energy ball milling technique. The materials used are PbO and TiO2 Anatase and Rutile powders. The powders milled for different hours are characterized using XRD and TEM. Experimental results show that the single perovskite phase of PbTiO3 can…

Abstract The effects of morphology on mechanism of plastic deformation are investigated for binary blends of isotactic polypropylene and rubbery ethylene‐1‐hexene copolymers. In this work, plastic deformation developed during elongation is investigated by measuring light transmittance, electron microscopy, and ultraso…
Acid-soluble collagens were prepared from connective tissues in the abalone Haliotis discus foot and adductor muscles with limited proteolysis using pepsin. Collagen preparation solubilized with 1% pepsin contained two types of alpha-chains which were different in their N-terminal amino acid sequences. Accordingly, tw…
Formation of a regeneration blastema following limb amputation is believed to occur through a process of dedifferentiation. It has been suggested, however, that the cells contributed to the blastema by the stump muscle are satellite-like cells, rather than cells originated by dedifferentiation. We have previously show…
